The studio knew the game was banned two years ago and would never be welcomed on the platform. Instead of scrapping the game, they "fixed" the pedoish scene, kept working it, and released it yesterday with no steam release. Now they running a PR campaign saying they about to shutdown because they are broke because they cant release on steam.

The way she explained it it's not even pedo adjacent. It's a game that has some humans treated as subhuman and ridden around like they're horses to make some sort of social commentary and a father takes his kid to ride a horse/human.

I would say it's messed up that after even modifying the scene Steam is like nope you can't get on the platform and if you make PC games and can't get on Steam it's likely a death sentence for a developer.

Today it's this but tomorrow it could be something else they decide can't happen. Mind you Steam is a place you can buy games that allow you to murder random people like a serial killer for your own amusement and Steam deems that acceptable.

Feels like somebody at their company decided they didn't like this and nothing will change the decision.

Preface this by saying: This is how submitting a game to steam works. You submit the build. If the build is ok, they give you permission to publish the steam page. In 99.99% of cases if there is a problem, they let you know and you fix it, resubmit. Rinse and repeat. For that .01% they ban the game completely where you cant even resubmit it because it is that problematic. That's usually involving shyt like minors. That is what happened to this game. So steam saw possible sexual shyt with a minor and shut it down immediately.

1. She is on bullshyt saying it isnt sexual. It doesnt matter what the intent and message is. Showing masturbation, titties, ass, and genitalia is sexual. Her mentioning A Serbian Film to defend the game is horrible as well. That movie was not sold in places like walmart because of it's content. She would probably say that movie isnt "sexual", even though it features rape of an infant baby, a child, and women. She legit showed a "horse"(dude) masturbating in a clip of the game. That is sexual.

2. She didnt even bother to read the steam response, which is weird. Probably because if she read it to her viewers, that would hurt her argument.

All characters in the game are clearly older than 20 years old, as communicated by their appearance and through dialogue and documents that you will encounter in the game. We think the ban may have been triggered during the initial Steam submission by an incomplete scene on day six, in which a man and his young daughter visit the farm. The daughter wants to ride one of the horses (in the game the “horses” are humans wearing a horse mask) and gets to pick which one. What followed was an interactive dialogue sequence where the player is leading, by a lead as if they were a horse, a naked adult woman with a young girl on her shoulders. The scene is not sexual in any way, but it is possible that the juxtaposition is what triggered the flag. We have since changed the character in the scene to be a twenty-something woman, both to avoid the juxtaposition and more importantly because the dialogue delivered in that scene, which deals with the societal structure in the world of HORSES, works much better when delivered by an older character.

3. She only has the studio's word on what the original scene was.. Of course they gonna say "wasnt anything sexual, it was innocent," etc. They not gonna say "we had a child doing provocative stuff on top of a naked woman's shoulders"

This is from a person who actually played the game and fukks with it.

And this is the version that they changed the character to a grown woman, I imagine the scene looked 100x worse using a child and it being a "half completed" game. So even someone who likes the game understands the ban.

They also allow rape simulators going by the posts some ppl have made defending the game. The fact that they allow that should tell you how horrible the submitted content was initially. This isnt someone with a grudge trying to get back at the studio. This is valve saying they dont want any problems with games that want to play grey area with children in sexual situations. No one wants the bad press that would come with selling a game involving that. This is on the studio for flying too close to the sun and having a minor in the game at the start. They were the ones that rushed an incomplete build to valve.

GAF and even early ResetEra (to a degree) were once pretty normal. You didn't see Nazi shyt there, which is far more prevalent now in gaming spaces. And while there were definitely pedos, for the most part they were kept in check. Meaning you didn't see a lot of "well technically if you're attracted to 15 year olds you aren't a pedophile" arguments. That shyt was reserved for *****, 8chan, and other fringe (at the time) forums. It was never an oasis of perfection - I remember when San Andreas got announced and GAF was full of people saying they didn't want to play a black character, didn't associate with rap music, etc. But I'm saying overall it was far more tame and normal than what modern gaming Discords and forums have become.

The switch there was almost entirely driven by a collection of trans posters becoming mods and turning everything into a privilege or victimhood exhibition. It killed discourse, put people on pins/needles and most importantly led to the type of performative bullshyt that came to define that era socially. Guys pretending to be feminists to get p*ssy. Black people using their suffering as a means to garnering white sympathy and money. Constant accusations of people not being pure enough because they still enjoy watching/listening to stuff from cancelled individuals. That shyt killed discourse and split gaming communities.

Now we got the majority of racists on one side and normal people on another. But there's still a separate segment that wants to go back to when you could derail entire conversations by bringing up problematic shyt from a decade ago.

The game sounds pretty dumb to me and I'd never play it or buy it but if it was banned because of a child getting a horse back ride on a human horse that's supposed to be some social commentary on the treatment of humans that sounds extreme.

Children are often used as a shield to enact policies that have nothing to do with them like all these states banning VPNs and porn because conservatives don't like porn. They use children because people universally feel children should be protected and if you use that as a shield nobody questions you or your actual motives.

It just seems like this is being blown out of proportion and it doesn't sound like what it's made out to be. People saw something they didn't like and leaned into what would outrage others.
