how can you say he didn't deserve the push when the guy reached a level of popularity only maybe 5-6 guys in the history of the business have reached.

Goldberg is the most overrated wrestler of All time but you're a stan for him so i understand.

The only Legendary wrestler without a great promo in the history of this business is Brock Lesnar.

For those wondering, the ratings for Nitro didn't take a big dive until deeper into '99. That is also peak Attitude Era. So there's a couple things going on. WCW didn't push their younger talent but WWE did. Really, WWE had no fukking choice but they did and Austin/Rock became household names.

So while it was the booking in WCW that was a huge problem, it was more so that WWE had the fresher crossover stars. I think the fingerpoke was definitely awful but with WCW you can't just pin it on one booking decision. It's a combination of things. The booking will always be the biggest talking point because it got so bad and stayed bad until maybe 4-5 months before they close shop.

People forget that WCW was getting decent again for a few months before they sold.

it doesn't matter if I am a stan or not. I am still waiting to hear how/why Goldberg did not deserve a push when in fact the guy became one of the biggest stars in history as a result of said push.

He got the biggest push in the history of wrestling.

And all he had was two moves and no promo.

'deserve' is complete bs because if something worked, it doesn't matter why it happens. Goldberg got over, so he deserved it. PERIOD.

I remember that night like it was yesterday. I vividly remember hearing the crowd chant "Wolfpack! Wolfpack! Wolfpack!" And "Goldberg sucks, Goldberg sucks!" The ending if the streak wasn't the problem, it was the finger poke of doom that made things go awry. But the thing about the finger poke of doom was even though it was a blunder, WCW rebounded from it with some pretty good programming in the months afterwards until a lot of their top stars got shelved.

Everything was fine, there was nothing wrong with the finger poke of doom either.

At the time I was a big nWo mark (still am) so I was happy to see the band back together, but looking back it happened a bit too soon and may not have been the best move for business.

when people say dumb shyt like this i swear i wanna slap em lol. no disrespect but come on how much worth are you going to put into a POP.

you wanna know who popped? the fans of kevin nash and the smarks in the crowd that wanted to see goldberg lose. you wanna who didn't pop? the overwhelming majority of the paying audience that wanted to see goldberg dominate and retain the title. i mean shyt if you think kevin nash had more fans than goldberg in 1998 you are straight f'n delusional.

lol. no, this post is the dumb shyt.

i have no beef with you, but you put your head on a swivel in every wcw thread.

lol @ "the overwhelming majority of the paying audience". you clearly werent in tune with wcw in real-time.

the fingerpoke of doom's impact is greatly overrated. I was ecstatic Nash beat Goldberg for the streak. The streak had to end sometime. Goldberg was still the man afterwords but he fukked up by cutting his hand the fukk up. Then Hogan used his stroke for so many nonsensical reasons and WCW just went downhill in so many other ways. They shouldn't have had the Fingerpoke of doom so soon. Nash should have gotten a run with the belt, he then shoulda had fueds with Hall and Hogan...then Goldberg could win in the blowoff. No creative decision put WCW outta business tho. Financial stability did. That's why Vince survived the drought through all the stupid shyt he did back then and over the years when the business has a down cycle. If Goldberg kept the streak or if the FPOD never happened...WCW still would have gone outta business.
