I am simply attempting to disprove Aslan's subpoints in his argument by using evidence. You do not just win arguments by saying 'Oh, thats wrong!', you provide a body of information that establishes your claim.
And as to my evidence being 'bunk', please look at the definition of the word ' tradition'.
Tradition is the transmission of customs or beliefs from generation to generation or a belief / behavior passed down within a society with symbolic meaning or special significance with origins in the past. The religion of Isam is practiced heavily in the name of
Tradition. So to say that 'all this history going back past 100 years is bunk and unnecessary' is disregarding , especially if we are debating practices taken up by a prevalent religion which dates back over a thousand years....
Please keep in mind the country that I used in example in my previous statement. FGM was banned by the Indonesian government in 2006, almost
800 years later after the practice was put into place. However, FGM/C
remained and is commonplace for women in Indonesia - the world’s largest Muslim nation. In 2013, the
Indonesian Ulema Council ruled that it favors FGM, stating that although it is not mandatory, it is still “morally recommended”.The Ulema has been pushing Indonesian government to circumcise girls, claiming it is part of Islamic teachings.....
All history is current. to say that the past does not repeat itself is a lie and an horrible one.
