The brass has shown, over and over again, that they don't give a shyt about Ric Flair, other than he can be a heat and legacy machine that they can use at times. They know the fans will ALWAYS love and respect him, and that can bury talent, so they use him sparingly. He could easily, and wanted to, be a manager for a talent that needs a catalyst to get over a bit...like Ziggler and Cesaro.

They have good reason for this - Flair has embarrassed them over and over again. He's been visibly drunk on TV recently for one thing.
I was listening to a Wrestling Inc podcast with Russo yesterday and he said Flair's solution for Reid's heroin problems was to try to get him a TNA tryout. I find it hard to feel sorry for Flair in this situation.

That's the thing neither performer is interesting by themselves so they resort to doing stuff like this to try and make the feud work. But if it fails regardless then what was the point?
You're right though, Nikki Bella saying it would probably have actually gotten some heat. But overall it's just another uninteresting divas feud. The 3 NXT women all being brought up at the same time was dumb anyway. They don't have a plan for the women and are desperate to draw interest, their efforts are ultimately futile.
