There are fans of many sports who would disagree.

As for Rick, I don't agree because I'm not a rules purist. The game evolves as time goes on. Players figure out what they can get away with, the league gets feedback from the fans, and the league will adjust or let it go as those results dictate.

If fans want more points, the league will give them more points. If fans like crossovers and highlight plays, the league will promote that.

I agree, but until they face some sort of massive fan backlash ie declining ratings, revenue, social media engagement, its very unlikely they'll do so.
