Yeah, I highly doubt Rick Owens isn't giving them free clothes or at least giving them something in return for the name dropping..

And pretty sure Rocky has modeled this dudes clothes.. lol

Imo.. I don't even think a lot of these rappers are even seekin any sort of return..if they did, why would they continue name droppin them? just name droppin shyt and all that so when everyone starts rockin it they can claim or others will claim they started the trend or brought it back..

it's a million way street... and I don't think any of the top designers care one bit about rappers

understand they are top designers BEFORE rappers knew them. there were selling 3,000 t-shirts in the 80s. who do you think is REALLY buying these clothes??? 20-50 rappers who mention them or can afford to buy them.... or fortune 500 company ceo's with $50k paintings in the OFFICE

Wall street bankers laugh at rapper bank accounts.. movie stars would kill themselves if they woke up with rapper money.. we haven't gotten into the dudes getting 1.5 million dollar BONUSES at the end of the year.. or the guy who owns that company.. or overseas millionaires... royalty... oil families.. etc

you got one or two jackets and rapped a song that sold 1 million copies.. while most of your fanbase couldn't afford one pair of socks... yet you think some rich designer gives one fukk about you?? or learning about your life?? or hearing that song?? they gonna switch they whole musical taste to catch up on the latest rick ross news.. cause he rapped a bar??

y'all are delusional. kanye might be the top 5 most famous rappers right now.. they won't even sit down with him.. oprah and billionaire and they won't even let her shop after hours... they don't give a fukk about us.. not even a race thing.. I don't think they give a fukk about what brad pitt is doing either..

they have whole departments in multiple countries, that issue out free items to stars.. doesn't mean the designer is sitting in a meeting, picking and choosing who's hot in the world, in order to make the list up himself

EDIT: wasn't coming at you.. you pretty much saying the same thing.. I was just answering back on the clothes part... just cause you own Versace, doesn't mean you personally are sending the clothes to jay or brad pitt or anyone else.. that have PR depts who decide that type of shyt

I dont know how you guys missed the worst part...

The dude said "I dont even know why they bother buying my clothes"

What the fukk does that mean? Like the clothes aren't made for them or some shyt, like they aren't valid customers? That was the worst part of this whole bullshyt.
It is a surprise to me that they would even bother, but I guess as our world is getting more and more commercial maybe it has become interesting to them to look into less obvious, more obscure fashion labels. Before, hip-hop used to be all about big luxury label brands like, you know, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci.

I must admit that I'm not that familiar with Jay-Z or Rick Ross or hip-hop in general.

Where did he say he's never heard of Jay?

People don't understand how small hip hop truly is.

The one of the biggest selling albums in past decade was 50 cent and get rich or die trying

Sold 9 million in one country. The USA. So you'd think it was so popular. It did 2 million worldwide.

There's 6 billion people on the planet. 300 million in the us. All the rest around the world.

And yet it only does 9 million here and 2 million everywhere else combined.

That's why it's rare you ever see artists doing worldwide tours. Cause other than London, France, Japan.... Notany countries know about rappers and if they do, it's major artists. And then it's if you look for their music.

Does anything about this guy say "I listen to rap or pay attention to the stars of hip hop"

Really can't blame the cac's because they are doing them...though in the name of business you generally have people who research who you consumers are. It kinda shows they just don't give a fukk about hip hop consumers, kind of a smack in the face.

This falls squarely on the shoulders of how ignorant we black people can be sometime. We have no sense of business in this white mans world. We GIVE shyt for free. YOU CAN BET A CAC ISN'T GOING TO GIVE JACK SHIIIIITTTTTT!!!!

Someone already clowned on Rocawear and other black designers in this thread (I'm only on the first page)...well it's why black people don't appear to ever be ready to have any financial power.

As black people we are so quick to not want to make it "all about race" when WE are the ones getting shytted on in society! Do yall believe the majority of white people or any other race of people will shyt on their own race to support ours?

Lets take hip hop: A majority black business, yet whites will go out of their way to SUPPORT a white artist (Em, Mackle). Even tho those rappers may not be as good as some black ones, BEST BELIEVE they will support those white artist before they support a black one! But when it comes to black people....:snoop: "I got all of Em albums because I like him as a artist, don't care that he's white....".

Well then thats on Jay/Ye and every other c00n that dignifies these clowns and gives them free product placements in their videos.

It speaks to a segment of black folk but not all. I certainly don't subscribe to that BS.

This nikka Jay made a whole song promoting Tom Ford, not a lyric, not a verse, not a line, a whole song :heh:
The fukked up thing is that if Tom Ford was a black dude from the Bronx, Jay wouldn't have ever acknowledged him, yet make a song.

How does him not listening to hip hop mean he doesn't give fukk about them?

What should he know about hip hop to show that he cares? Does he have to recite the first verse to Juicy on some Making the Band shyt :dwillhuh:

You were only able to name two white artists, out of all the white people that have released music in hip hop, you were only able to name 2. The majority of all rap sales comes from white people.

:wtf;

Magnum P.I. had a Ferrari.

Armani suits have been talked about in movie and tv for as long as I remember by white folks.

Rolex.

Prada shoes.

If it wasn't for tv, movies, or rappers, I would know absolutely nothing about luxury items.

Everyone does it when it comes to art and entertainment, why do rappers get taken to task?

Its 2013, its getting pathetic that these journalist have no problem insulting our intelligence. Is it because they think less of us?

u do realize they pay for placement in movies and tv shows right? when you see any brand, it's not there by accident

You dont know what you're talking about.

Its hilarious how when it comes to cacs yall just assume they worked so hard and established themselves, by themselves without that cosign from the gatekeepers. Yall really need to do a little more research before you just start rambling.

0S3wPG6.gif

the argument against kanye isn't that you need gatekeepers

its that just because the gatekeepers don't want you, its not simply because you're black

part of it is because you're kanye.
