So just cause he makes millions, we are suppose to be ignored? I'm not singling him out but other high end brands just look at rap like it's not worth anything. And I hate when people down play the influence of rappers name dropping brands. Whenever kanye wears anything, people follow and start buying. Same thing with Jay and A$AP. Rap has influence over its audience. And the fact that these people don't seem to care about the genre is alarming given the star power that a Rick Ross or a Jay-z have.

But should you be blaming the designers? They never asked for name drops from rappers. They are doing their own thing.

In fact sometimes they don't want to be associated with rap like the time Gucci pulled the plug on that T.I ft Swizz song about Gucci rags. It's the rappers' own damn fault.

It has always struck me as rather odd that all these self-proclaimed hustlas would advertise products for free considering the influence and pull they have over certain demographics.

These brands can't pull that shyt in Hollywood. Those nerdy CaCs make them cough the money up if they want product placement.

I can't believe anyone saying dude owes rappers reparations for name dropping him. What kind of lame mother fukking rapper name name drops the shyt out of people who don't even hang out with, or barely recognize his ass?

Oh yeah that's Jay Z

fukk JAY Z

fukk JAY Z

It's always funny to watch rappers name dropping white people and the brands they own in their songs and in the end they end up being either racist or completely unfamiliar with the rapper and their music :mjlol:

Rick Owens has become a huge deal in hip-hop—especially with artists like Jay Z, Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, and Rick Ross either wearing his designs or name-dropping him in their songs. But, according to a recent AnOther interview, Owens isn't really even familiar with any of them, let alone listens to their music. He must know Rocky, though, right? The Harlem rapper and his wife, Michelle Lamy, did hit up a few galleries in the city together earlier this month.

Anyway, here's what Owens had to say about hip-hop:
I must admit that I'm not that familiar with Jay-Z or Rick Ross or hip-hop in general. I mainly listen to hardcore techno, old disco records and old show tunes. But of course I'm pleased to have a happy client and I think it is nice that they talk about my products. I cannot imagine rejecting any positive response. I don't supply them with my jackets, if that's what you think. They have to go out and buy them. It is a surprise to me that they would even bother, but I guess as our world is getting more and more commercial maybe it has become interesting to them to look into less obvious, more obscure fashion labels. Before, hip-hop used to be all about big luxury label brands like, you know, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci.”
