Man I kinda liked the trap style too. I don’t know why but I’ve been liking that producers like Muggs, Madlib, and Alchemist have all been dipping into the trap bag in the past couple years. It’s cool hearing them do their own spin on the style. I don’t like most trap beats, but I do like some, and it’s fun to hear these old school producers combine their sound with the trap stylings.

i been out the loop....can u link to me to some madlib and alc trap beats?

WICKED DAYS feels incredibly out of place. Put that on a concept album and I could see it working, on here it doesn't imo.

Rest of the album is piff. Another solid release for Roc Marci :wow:

I've liked pretty much every project Roc has put out besides this and the one with DJ Muggs. Maybe it'll grow in me, but I'm not feeling how slow everything is. Covid Cough and Eye of Whorus are my favorites by far because the pace picks up.

If you want Spotify or mp3 links let me know breh, but these are some good recent TrapLib and TrapChemist on youtube. Madlib's is a little more conventional trap, and makes me think he could kill it with a whole album of that if he wanted to. Alc's trap-ish stuff is less straight trap; it's a little more a blend of his regular style, but just bouncier and more 808-infused. They're both dope though.

I like Crockett N Tubbs too. I know it's not exactly face paced, but the energy is still dope to me.

Finally heard it a couple times, I think I like it a little more than Marcielago. Still, I feel the same as with most releases after Reloaded/Pimpire. His bars are sharp as always, though his vocals have never been on the same level since Pimpire. And the experimentation comes at the expense of cohesiveness. I feel like his albums generally lack direction. It's bars after bars over very minimal, often experimental production, instead of a fully realized vision with attention to every part of the production. Now this might be an artistic choice (the album covers for both Mt Marci and Marcielago reflect this scattershot approach). But it's not necessarily the best he can possibly deliver in my opinion.
Yet, because I think it is indeed artistic choice, I respect it, and I enjoy it for what it is.

I'm surprised you like this even though it's your first one. That's really dope. if you like this you'll really love Reloaded, Marcberg, Behold a Dark Horse, Marciealago, etc.
Yeah I’m definitely going back to listen to the older stuff. There are a couple songs with weird beats but it’s cool overall.
