Rock bailing on the entire Cena storyline is honestly some inexcusable shyt

The heel turn WAS HOT.

It is unarguable. We were interested. It was well executed.

But he turned heel TO SURRENDER TO THE FINAL BOSS.

The goal was to ruin wrestling...because the final boss said so.

That shyt just had no story afterwards. I loved heel Cena, the wearing the belt correctly. The JOHN CENA entrance...big fan. He actually cut good promos. But without the final boss it was kind of feckless.

He still is part of the company. He has no excuse as to why he just abandoned the shyt.

When final boss rock was peak going into last mania...I legit put him ABOVE AUSTIN as goat.

Young Rock show also kinda showed that dynamic.
But you’re right, it was a huge letdown.
Kinda fukked up The Rock’s legacy.
He just needed to come out at Mania, at minimum.
If he would’ve made the same amount of appearances as Cena, might’ve been an all time story.

If you remember, Triple H when he said he called Rock to pitch the storyline basically revealed that Rock wasn’t responding to anything he was saying on the phone then said he like it at the very end. That was the telltale sign that he thought it was garbage.

Was he called to re-insert himself once WM ticket sales looked slow and it became obvious the angle was drowning? Possible - but it's not hard to believe nor do I blame him for taking the "I tried, they didn't listen " stance and staying away/not dropping his other commitments.

The reality is the rock just wanted that one off match with Roman since he had down time and Hollywood wasn’t reaching out to him like that.

The fans wanted Roman vs Cody instead and it was the right choice… and the rock realized this and stepped back… props to him

But Hollywood came knocking back and he didn’t think twice…. It is what it is….. but his ass kept coming back teasing shyt that led to nothing and left sour taste

No..Roman vs Cody happened at WM 39 and Cripple h had Roman retain. Another needless Roman win. Messed everything up.
