Nah HHH doesnt get a pass at all. He is ass as a booker and always has been (Dusty and Regal were responsible for prime NXT) but im also not going to sit and act like the whole premise of Cena's heel turn didnt completely surround around Rock because it did. To your point, HHH was never going to salvage that on his own and Rock knew that.
That's fair:mjlol:

I mean you’re asking the wrong questions

Why even wrestle again at all if you’re getting big roles again

rock loves wrestling but at the same time call a spade a spade

Wrestling is his side chick

What 99 percent of wrestlers don’t have the advantage of doing… Rock is one of a very short list who has the wrestling world in the palm of his hands. Every wrestling promotion would bend backwards for him

But he wants Hollywood… so he’s back on business
People keep glossing over the fact that the only reason Rock came back was because he crapped out trying to pull a power move on DC and his farm bet film flopped

If Black Adam made a billion dollars y'all wouldn't have heard "IF YA SMEEEELLLLLL" for at least 5 more years:mjlol:

Ultimately Rock took a big hit in Hollywood, fell back to WWE while still trying to regroup in Hollywood. Now Black Adam is in the past, Smashing Machine flopped sure, but Moana 2 is one of the only hit movies this year. And now he has other projects lined up

Like you said WWE is the side chick:mjlol:

I also think that another element of his return was him taking an opportunity to demonstrate his value to TKO

Right

Dudes in here saying it makes no sense considering he has all the time in the world to film so he can wrestle before then.

it makes all the sense in the world when you no longer want to wrestle lol

Why would a 50 year old try to maintain his body for wrestling, be in the biggest storyline of the year, and then still set aside time for his acting projects

Why lol

shyt cena looking like he could wrestle for another year or two with how great he’s been looking…. Giving it up all now so he can focus on acting lol

Let's say worst case scenario Rock was being difficult which I don't believe, I feel like it's more reasonable that two creative sides just couldn't work out a proper story.

That still wouldn't take Hunter off the hook because it was a month before Cena really started to do anything. He appeared overseas. You mean to tell me Hunter and creative couldn't come up with something better than what we got? :russ:

That’s also the reason he crawled back to Vin Diesel and the Fast and Furious franchise.

Here is what I think k
Cody turning heel was a bad idea simply because he wouldn’t have wanted to do it and he would not have given his best effort. You can’t just tell someone like him to put his all into something he doesn’t want to do. You have to embrace the role.

2. The rock shouldn’t have been banking on that for his comeback especially after the way 2024 played out. He should have at least attempted at having his match with Cody and then tried to turn him heel.

3. I can honestly believe that the rock never planned on working past mania last year and only really wanted the Roman match while he was champ. That’s why he made time to comeback. Because you have to remember he pitched this idea to Vince but Vince couldn’t make it work and Roman was doing ok without it.

3. Y’all are too hard on HHH it’s the classic and now played out TSC/IWC heel turn. It’s not based on facts but rather needing someone to be mad at. His booking hast been perfect but nothing I mean nothing he could have done to fix the Cena heel turn after rock bailed.

Also HHH has hired everyone y’all wanted Vince to hire. He has them all in the writers room. Heyman, Ryan ward, he even has an old Vince guy in Pritchard and Micheal Hayes. If he was to step down then who do y’all really think would come in and do better?

4. Vince was terrible and the show improved dramatically once he left. We don’t get WM 40 with Vince. We don’t get last mondays raw with Vince. Cody reign would be just as stale with Vince. Jey uso wouldn’t all of a sudden start doing cardio
LA Knight still wouldn’t be champ
The black wrestler would be in the same position under Vince. He’ll he treated the og Wyatt family the same way.

At least HHH listens to his writers and they listen to the internet the problem is we can’t agree on what we want and when we do agree on Cody we turn on him a year later and say his reign was trash.

1. That's called being unprofessional. Tons of people have turns face/heel when they didn't want to and if you are incapable of doing so, then you don't need to pushed or in the spot that he was. If you are the top guy, you can and should be able to do anything necessary.

2. IIRC, Rock had an outline of this return when Vince was still in charge and him being removed changed things. Also, the Rock/Roman match was more than just a bloodline feud, it was meant to be Rock's retirement match because he's been trying to finish up his in ring career and wanted to put over THE GUY, his cousin, Roman Reigns at the time. Him doing it now wouldn't have the same importance or flair because he didn't have the link with Cody as he did Roman and it pushed is timetable back and at his age, that matters.

3. BEEN part of the booking staff since 2003, now he basically runs the entire show. HHH at his peak is good, but his booking has been chronically mid the entirety he's been at top.

4. Vince had higher highs and lower lows than HHH as a booker. But he also had the entire industry's respect and loyalty so he could push for things that HHH just doesn't have the credibility to do for.

The thing with Vince is that he didn't play favorites as much as HHH does and if you drew, he'd push you. HHH tends to go with guys he trusts moreso than the most deserving... which will promote longevity but hinder meritocracy.
