It is though.

More people follow the nba, it’s just not religion/american culture to watch basketball on tv. As is the case with the nfl.

If football could get the same online interactions as basketball, it would benefit the players. Would make more of them celebrities and up their endorsement money. Just like Formula 1, the NFL have been working really hard with that angle through Netflix, HBO and on. To a point where they might pass the nba soon, seeing how boring these new guys are. QBs probably already have passed them. Like a Greek Nigerian is the most interesting player besides the old heads. :snoop:
Bumping this thread.

It's ironic because the ONE thing holding the NFL back is that it doesn't have the individual superstar appeal. People will know LeBron and Luka without even watching hoops. No one knows who Josh Allen is outside of football fans.

NFL execs enjoy keeping that level of control over the athletes, and yet it's that control that limits the ceiling some of these guys could reach...which in turn limits the NFL ceiling. It's a weird paradox.

They're content to be #1 in America and throw some bones to international fans. They'd love to be global like the NBA or Soccer, but they're also afraid of taking a big risk and falling on their face. Also think America has a unique mix of athletes that the world cannot match in a football setting. Fast twitch Black and white dudes that can run like the wind, dunk a basketball and lift a house. The only ones capable play rugby, but most of them function like a high end Lexus instead of a Bugatti.

Reminds me of "Light years"

The difference is that the NFL didn't pin their team's energy on a singular entity (Steph) like the Warriors did. His mindset makes a lot of sense in that they're all competing for attention in the digital age where user stickiness is the gold standard. That alone is the reason why the NFL is more valuable than the NBA even though basketball is a more global sport.

NHL is so irrevelant in the US sports landscape, that Roger Goodell even forgot to mention it, he forgot that the NHL exists. So if he doesn’t see the NBA and the MLB as serious threats and competition to the NFL, imagine how much he’s not worried about the nhl lol.😂 🤣 hockey is not even seen as a worthy challenger to the NFL for sports supremacy in America lol

and he didn’t think of the powerful and popular soccer leagues in Europe (Premier League, Italian serie A, French Ligue 1, German Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga)

it's not the sport or the players that draw for the nfl

it's the stadiums & the crowds

soon as the nba puts a all star game in the camp nou or some shyte it will be a revelation

hoops has the individual starpower to fill those stadiums they just haven't pushed that button yet

stadiums & crowds provide the spectacle

:blessed: The Real Stars of the NFL. Legit, the NFL Referee Union is basically the Mafia who Roger bends the knee towards.
