This is really all that needs to be said. I was in high school and the military during the height of Missy's popularity, and I've never heard her name come up in a serious rap discussion.

She was looked at as a unique artist/visionary, not an emcee. She's like in the Michael Bivens category and there's nothing wrong with that.

Missy is still a rapper. You're not going to hear Missy's name come up like that because she's not lyrical. It's the same reason you don't really see names like Busta talked about.

Nobody looks at Missy like no Michael Bivins. That's a gigantic reach if I ever seen one.

Missy albums were NEVER considered great:gucci: She was a singles artist.

They were considered great. The first four were. Missy was never a singles artist. Singles artist are artists with huge singles, but the albums are flops. Missy was never that. There's also the fact that great MC's have made records with Missy rapping and not singing. She has great MC's on her songs where she is rapping and not singing.

You know
In real time she was all over tv and radio, looked at as the female Busta Rhymes with video creativity, along with extensive writing and producing dating back to the New Jack Swing era. I’m very sure you’re older than me, so you should actually already know this. And I’m not sure what women/gays have to do with this, this is Missy we’re talking about, not Nicki Minaj or Saucy Santana.
What does any of that have to do with being taken seriously as a true mc and having classic hip hop albums? Missy definitely had hit records and creative music videos. All this other shyt is revisionist history from generation z and feminists

Being an MC =/= as being a rapper. Nas is an MC. Too Short is a rapper.

Putting someone's album in an all time list isn't revisionist history. It's an opinion and opinion change like days. I could think Aquemini is GOAT today and then listen to Life After Death tomorrow and change my mind.

^^^ Drake and J. Cole sampling deep cuts from Supa Dupa Fly over a decade after it dropped. Yet, you got posters on The Booth talking about Missy was a singles artist.

Don't recall The Source putting singles artists on their covers.

Stop it breh :mjlol: You and I both know Missy don't belong in no top 10

Where did I say she did? My whole argument is people acting like Missy was some irrelevant artist who people just started propping. All of her albums have been critically acclaimed by the media from the jump. Ya'll were just sleep. Like I said, Wayne was out here saying Missy was his favorite rapper.

Timbaland and Missys production and songwriting for other artists is the focus of that article

I have that magazine and you're lying. Most of that article was talking about her new album Da Real World. She talked about how The Matrix influenced the album, her first single, and some of the songs on the album. It also talks about how and why she and Timbaland changed their sound with this album compared to her debut.

Breh, it's not true that men hold her in the least highest regard. It makes sense that you would box her into someone that is held in higher regard by women and gays because you can't see yourself liking her music, therefore lack the objectivity that quite possibly men think highly of Missy as well. And what really separated Missy from the other females is that her songs where she talked about sex were complimented with verses from great male MC's. You weren't going to get that from Kim or Foxy outside of maybe four of their songs and even then the men played the subject to their dominant.
Do you agree it’s absurd that she has three albums on this list? One in the top ten? Ranked higher than Illmatic and those other albums I mentioned?
