The NBA doesn’t “Need” Las Vegas. Sure it
might be good to have, but its nots close to a necessity. The Vegas ownership group will get an NBA team at extortion prices.

And unlike recent years with MLS and NHL and in a few years, MLB, the NBA doesn't "need" expansion. The League is financially healthy, and in a good place from a talent amd social perspective...

Those other leagues needed/need expansion. The NBA doesn't...

If it goes thru, it'll be Seattle and Vegas. The way it stands right now, there are 6 cities in the running:

Seattle
Las Vegas
Mexico City
Kansas City
Vancouver
San Diego

6 Western cities are all the favorites, so either way, somebodies are moving to the Eastern Conference, though I'd just as soon prefer the NBA realign to an NFL/MLB type conference alignment, rather than East/West.

No sports league is contracting teams at this point, financially and optically it doesn’t make sense. Relocation is the only solution if a market has a problem that can’t be fixed for whatever reason.

Memphis will sadly get relo'd to Nashville in the next 10 years.

4 divisions of 4 teams for each conference.
