No, I am. This is bad for everyone.

The console price hikes from all 3 manufacturers were due to tariffs, no other way to spin it. If it wasn't, one of them would've cut prices in a bid to take market share
I disagree. Sony put up the price of the PS5 in Europe 2022. Xbox put up the price in 2025. This wasn't due to the tariffs.

I was lucky that I finally was able to get a PS5 before the price hike.

I think the next Xbox will be an extremely premium console. That’ll probably have multiple storefronts, backwards compatibility, and runs pc games. That’ll be set at a price that only console/Microsoft enthusiasts are willing to pay for.

SCOOP: For the last two years, Microsoft has pushed Xbox to hit profit margins of 30%, an ambitious target that's far higher than the industry average. This chase for profit has led Xbox to raise prices, cut thousands of jobs, and rethink everything.

30% is typically on the higher end for MS divisions, every Xbox console generation has floated much higher *lower (by higher I meant higher in deficit)than that and it's why so many people internally felt some kinda way about Xbox.

Now that Xbox can actually make big boy money on its own, thats what shareholders want.

Edit fixed: I see were the confusion is at *lower

He clearly didn't read the article. The average is 17 percent across the industry. Even during their best years which was COVID and everyone was in the house it was 22%. Reading comprehension and critical thinking is at an all time low...smh

Funny reading comprehension eh? Then maybe you should have comprehended that Xbox wasn't held to the same standards as other MS divisions overall, and not even that of the industry.

Over the past two years, executives at the Seattle-based software giant have set an across-the-board goal of 30% “accountability margins,” a term Microsoft uses in lieu of profit margins, according to people familiar with the business. The gaming division, which includes dozens of studios, has responded by canceling products, raising prices and slashing thousands of jobs, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing nonpublic information.

The average percentage across the gaming industry is not even a guideline they can use anymore, the higher ups have a across the board standard they are asking from all divisions.

So now the excuse is poor Xbox they were never going to succeed because of M$... How about if they knew that then why not produce games with the studios they had instead of purchasing Activision and Zenimax. M$ was ok with letting them flounder over there but once real billions were at stake now it's time to really look at the books. Xbox has no one to blame but themselves. Instead of trying to beat Sony with better hardware and software like a true gaming company they tried to out capitalist them. Now they got true capitalist making the decision and it's all about the bottom line now...smh
