You're right, but that's not the comparison I'm trying to make. Basically Russ had a stacked team defensively and a top RB along with that crazy homefield. He was getting carried in those early years. just ask fiasco boy @lastemp.
Carried is an extreme word. Russ was good to very good, instantly. Carried is what the 1990 NYG did, 2000 Ravens did, the 2006 Bears did, the 2009/2010 NYJ, the 2015 Broncos. Russ was far too productive and important to just say he was being carried. Russ was a wayy better QB(era factored in)than Steve McNair was in 1999. Yet no one claims that he was carried. Perception is powerful. Yall on here acting like Russ was Kyle Boller or something.

Bunch of hating ass contractions in here :hhh:

He's 100% right. He's not saying he was the first or only black QB to open the door. He opened it more for today's black QB's. Doug Williams won in 88. Russ was the second to win it all and that was 2014.

Y'all forgot the "running QB's can't win a Superbowl" narrative? Russ winning and getting to another one helped dead that. It wasn't McNabb, Cunningham, or Vick. It was about getting a ring and they didn't. Moon was a pocket passer but after him it was still decades of questioning black QB's from the pocket.

His success was vital and Patrick and Jalen squaring off pretty much cemented the black QB. We're seeing multiple brothers getting picked in round 1 and yes, Russ is part of breaking down these barriers. Give him his due.

Saying a lot of nothing, Mahomes ran him out the division and got two rings on him.

He's done nothing except ride other ATG coattails for almost a decade, I don't get it.

That was later
I readily concede that the defense was clearly more vital to Seattle success, but it doesnt change the fact that Russ was a good to very good QB, even during the peak of the LOB. I bet that the 2006 Bears, 2006 Ravens, 1994/1995 Steelers, 2000 Titans, 2017 Jaguars, 2019 49ers etf..wished they had Russell Wilson quarterbacking their team.

Im a big as fan of McNair as any, but he really dnt become an effective passing QB until 2001. He could make some plays passing and he was amazing at tinely, backbreaking runs. He dod nothing vs Buffalo in the payoffs and was awful vs Baltimore in the following years playoffs..both at home. Eddie was the engine of that offense, by far!!
