yes, she's not an ordinary prisoner and as such she's leapfrogged plenty of others who've been waiting around for years. she has a media presence and notoriety in general - that's still a long cry from being a spy or something. that's really more like.... the opposite of what you'd be going for

Its hell getting anyone released from Iran and NK on a good day. If they were knee deep in a months long war? shyt, they'd probably be even worse.

Her best bet at getting out was being a complete nobody or having the situation remain as low key as possible.

I don’t think the “war” going on in Ukraine has anything to do with this since Russia is yet to legally call it a war & the US has denied any involvement. It’s more of a proxy war & apart from media frenzy & sanctions - both countries still have relations & are still doing business.

Weed law in Russia is basically almost the same as it’s in the UK. But in her case, they’re giving her the maximum penalty. So it begs the question - why?

Homosexuality isn’t allowed openly in Russia but in her case, despite being a high profile gay star athlete - they gave her a pass & she’s been allowed to come to the country since 2014 whilst paying her more money than she makes in the WNBA. And there’s a reason for that cos they want to attract foreign athletes esp. American basketball players. So why would they overlook her being gay but give her maximum penalty for weed when it’s bad optics for what they’re trying to do with their basketball league?

Also, she can easily get any strain of weed in Russia since Russian & Serb cartels dominate the weed & buj (opium/heroin) market in Europe (with Turks & Albanians as middlemen) while Irish/English cartels dominate the cocaine market via Spain/Portugal. Anything she wants is readily available there…so why try to bring it in from a next country to a country you’re familiar with?

Russia doesn’t benefit anything from keeping her in there for weed since she’s the type of athlete they’re trying to attract - to play in their league. Her profile alone is enough for them to overlook it. It’s bad optics & PR. So, there’s more to it. Even Biden is yet to address her arrest directly & it’s always about “all Americans in Russian prison”.

Iran & NK release lower tier spies all the time & I doubt both would arrest high profile athletes for weed.

Russia won’t go into details (that’s the way they operate) & MSM will always go with the narrative that suits their agenda. But things would become clearer in future cos I refuse to believe it’s just weed.

That's too much for only .7 grams of cannabis oil, which could all fit in one vape pen, not to mention it was subscribed by her doctor for pain. I didn't know all this until now, or I forgot. Before, I was hearing certain you-tube personalities saying she was distributing a lot of it, and she should have known better, and they therefore have no pity for her. Now I'm finding out she wasn't distributing anything, however I do believe she should have been more careful, especially with the tension between the US and Russia. Maybe she thought since she had a doctors note, it was okay. One way or another, this should be no more than a fine.
