Nah…Japan is filled with ultranationalists that want a literal return to a Japanese empire. In the 50s a nationalist assassinated a socialist politician with a sword on live tv.

I thought he did that because the sword carrying guy didn't want the smoke with America...which the guy who got killed wanted...he didn't like America involvement in Japan.
