I was wondering how people would perceived that scene? How do you think they could've made it more nuanced?
i think i have to look at other such shyt but the issue was it just took me out of the space of the movie and it's setting it didn't blend into it. maybe there was a way to show parallel without laying everything on the top together in one short scene. that irish music had a lot of room to breath in the film and he was already jumping in and out of time specific musical backdrops with the scary electric guitars so why rush that metaphor and smack all that shyt on at once... it felt like a scion commercial in the middle of the movie to me. no diss.

movie was heh.. feel like it needed more world building and could have possibly stretchd out to a trilogy..

1st movie : pre sinners story.. movie of the twins as kids.. sprinkles of Sammie and the Chinese couple.. cornbread and older cat as younger people.. hints of vampire lore.

2nd movie : this movie with more backstory already known to the viewers.. would prob be much better.. remove last modern scene

3rd movie : the vampire couple running shyt throughout time paralleling to Sammie running shyt... add last scene here.

pay me.

Sometimes less is more. Far too many stories in cinema and literature are stretched out further than what they should be

when the transition to horror happens after the initial setting some of those jarring rock guitars are over the top cheese (maybe that was the point but i didn't like it) and the pacing started to feel rushed at that point after they laid out the story and got the club up then that modern plus periodic music jam in the club where shyt goes from blues to hip hop i don't think it was done well musically it was too literal and not nuanced. my criticisms are nerd shyt i have no issues with the acting
I took that as the musical power mentioned in the beginning that Sammie possessed that Remmick wanted to get a hold of.

I agree that music scene was the like the only knock I have against the movie. I like how the scene was executed and the message, I just didnt like the modern music shyt being added, didnt mind all the old music/stuff from other cultures being added.

Right, That 1st movie happens, we never get to a 2nd/3rd movie and have an unfinished planned trilogy. That first movie in the trilogy sounds horrible. People checked out this for MBJ/Coogler and you virtually get no MBJ in the first movie. No one in the movie knew what vamps were except Anna on some rumor shyt, so no real vamps. So what would the movie even be about with the kid twins?

Finally got around to seeing it this morning. Went in without knowing anything about it outside of it being a vampire flick. Outside of a couple scenes that i thought were a bit shoe horned or cheesy, i really enjoyed it. I’d put it up there with my two favorite vampire movies 30 Days of Night and Let The Right One In (the original swedish version)

No, they didnt feel it, they just know they needed her to become a vampire to convince smoke to turn. That's why at the end when Stack explained how he got mary out when he saw Smoke kill Anna. He knew at that point Smoke wasnt going to become a vamp.

Exactly.

Everything doesn't need to be a motherfukkin franchise. He left the door open for a future entry, but the way the story ended felt satisfying to me.

We really just need more original films. The success of this film shows just how hungry people are for original stories.
