I personally don't think the movie was trying to sell horror. It was a thriller. So I was ok with that. They made the vampires likable. However, thats where trailers can sell you on one thing.Caught it, late as fukk.
I liked the set up, thought it was amazing but when the horror kicked in I was underwhelmed. Coogler gotta tap in with someone that can really sell that shyt. Like that shot from the trailer where Sammie and Smoke where hugging each other looking terrified I thought some horrific, terrifying shyt was happening but not really. Then the one where he had the Thompson bucking at something, it was the klan so big salute but I thought some traumatic shyt was going down
Love to see Delroy Lindo stealing the show once again.
Gonna keep supporting these brothers but I wanted this to hit a lil harder.
Vampire movies like Near Dark, Interview With the a Vampire and even Lost Boys were never really scary to me either though.
Only one I think (off the top of my head) that really sold horror for a good chunk of the movie was 30 days of Night.
