Happy for Ryan, Michael, Delroy and everyone, most nominations ever, even over "Titanic". This means they should be in store for a big night but I'm not holding my breath. I hope they clean up with like 8-10 Wins. A Black person has never won Best Director ever which is ridiculous and shows how bias these awards shows are. I hope this film inspires more Black filmmakers and storytellers to dig deep in telling our mythology and history across many different genres.

The Other A
Just saw it again a instant classic :wow:

I'm seeing the awards being rightfully handed out, but I need to see it win the big one though

I saw it the day it came out at the theater..

I thought it was good but didnt blow me away like that ... I thought the story was meh, the horror was meh.. One scene was super dope but thats it (no spoiler for nikkaz who still aint seen it)

Maybe I need to peep it again

The way they’ve been pushing OBAA over this during the awards season - a film that lost $100m at the box office vs what was a cultural phenomenon is absolutely disgusting. OBAA is an enjoyable enough watch but it’s nowhere near the level of filmmaking as was in this.

The only reason they’re pushing that film so hard is because they don’t want to give this film the credit and plaudits it deserves because Coogler made a bunch of white people in Hollywood mad with his deal. So instead, they’re pushing another “black-themed” film so they can avoid people playing the race card against them. Even the buzz around Teyana Taylor’s performances is forced - nothing subtle in her acting at all in that film. Every actor in this (including Halie Steinfeld) acted rings around whatever TT was doing in OBAA. shyt, MBJ who I’ve never rated as an actor, put in a performance worthy of two nominations and at least one win.

Glad it got all the noms but I can see a stitch up coming down the line - I hope I’m wrong though….

How on Earth can that character be played as subtle?
