Don't really care if you consider it true horror but $190m's to make World War Z.

I Am Legend wit 150m budget.

The Wolfman 150 mil.

The Exorcist if made in today's time with Inflation would be 83 mil.

Nah. I think they have the IMAX theater until Thunderbolts.

Here in GA, today is the last day. I caught it yesterday. IMAX didn’t make a difference to me.

6.5-7/10 for me. A couple of things

1. This is mbj best performance since Fruitvale Station.

2. This movie was heavily inspired by from dusk till dawn. I dunno how I feel about that because I never liked how the second half of ftdt turned into a completely different movie.

Coogler needs to flesh out his scripts more or bring in someone for rewrites. I felt like the vampires should have burned down the juke joint—or at least attempted to in order to draw them out—as a lead-in to the final battle. Not grace welcoming them in. I didn’t like how it was nighttime and then suddenly daytime during the climax. Also, the whole sequence where smoke couldn’t go through the door when he’s already in the building only for him to bust through
later and run outside after getting hit with garlic water, was horrible.

I had the same issues with #3

Hailee was already invited in and she ate those bullets so she couldve went and got Sammie. End movie there cause thats what irish dracula wanted. Coogler couldve had Hailee screaming outside so MBJ would run out to save her then get jumped by the vampires to turn him. That wouldve been a cleaner reveal

This movie definitely parallels From Dusk Till Dawn in parts. That doesn’t take away from this movie’s quality or is a knock against it. Reminds me when people were saying that “Get Out was ripping off The Skeleton Key.” Movies can have similarities and still be original. I mean From Dusk Till Dawn has similarities to Vamp. But I won’t call it a ripoff lol.

I don't consider it "ripping off" . It takes the similar concepts but puts it's own unique flavor, spin on it. I like From Dusk till Dawn, but it's trying to be nothing but a mindless horror action comedy. This film was more serious, more deliberate, and trying to deliver a message.

Fiction runs thousands of years deep, and thousands of stories run parallel to each other some intentionally others not. It is what it is.

Not to mention, they weren't scary at all either lol.

What was the last true horror movie that really scared you fr anyway? Hereditary & Get Out are commonly filed under the 'Horror' tag....are you jumpin' out of your seat watching? Does it make them any less of a good movie(s)?

Smoke and Mary already being inside the juke joint and then running out and only being able to return once Grace welcomes them back in had me like .


The middle act should’ve focused on the vampires plotting how to get into the juke joint, while Stack figuring out how to keep them out. Mary and Smoke could’ve added tension by being able to speed-blitz inside at any time since they’d already been welcomed in. That dynamic alone could’ve created a lot of suspense.


The final act should’ve ended with the juke joint burning down, forcing everyone to flee into the woods. From there, it should’ve turned into a survival horror— everyone getting picked off one by one until sunrise.

Instead of being so heavily inspired From Dusk Till Dawn, the film should have drew inspiration from The Strangers and/or Jeepers Creepers 2. That kind of shift would’ve taken the movie to another level.

I don’t know if it’s because he wants all the credit or all the money from the script, but he really needs to start delegating some of the writing to other people. The middle of script could have and honestly should been much better.

Delta, stack and smoke arcs and the blues scenes were chefs kiss though
