Smoke and Mary already being inside the juke joint and then running out and only being able to return once Grace welcomes them back in had me like

The middle act should’ve focused on the vampires plotting how to get into the juke joint, while Stack figuring out how to keep them out. Mary and Smoke could’ve added tension by being able to speed-blitz inside at any time since they’d already been welcomed in. That dynamic alone could’ve created a lot of suspense.
The final act should’ve ended with the juke joint burning down, forcing everyone to flee into the woods. From there, it should’ve turned into a survival horror— everyone getting picked off one by one until sunrise.
Instead of being so heavily inspired From Dusk Till Dawn, the film should have drew inspiration from The Strangers and/or Jeepers Creepers 2. That kind of shift would’ve taken the movie to another level.
I don’t know if it’s because he wants all the credit or all the money from the script, but he really needs to start delegating some of the writing to other people. The middle of script could have and honestly should been much better.
