It's as simple as this..

If you believe someone is the greatest to ever do it I don't see how a group of people treating them as such is up for ridicule...

Unless you really don't believe there are indeed the greatest..

Which is why I bring up the lack of labeling of "Wayne Gretzky dikkriders"... All of the praise and glorification of him over the years hasn't produced that term...Because it's understood that he earned it...

You know what the term dikkrider means dawg..It insinuates that you are overdoing it with the praise...

So my question is, how can you give the greatest ever too much props?

Umm....you typed all this and have yet to show how I threw shade at MJ.

This is what I call dikkriding:

@BSports: Steph Curry's performance was great, but it doesn't compare to two magical Michael Jordan games in losses: http://bit.ly/15llCst
There is a CONSTANT need to over and over again for MJ dikkriders to tell us how someone isn't on his level...even in a friggin loss.

That shyt is unique to how the NBA is talked about amongst fans....PERIOD. And yeah....that type of shade thrown at Curry has typically been thrown at Kobe more than any NBA player.

That's not a shot or "hating" on MJ. You can talk until you're blue in the face, have a million idiots in here c/s you and it's still 100% wrong.

I said "nothing" about MJ's abilities as a player until YOU asked in saying "Unless you really don't believe there are indeed the greatest.."

I never questioned his greatness. I questioned why do dikkriders need to remind us at every turn. That's not throwing a shot at "MJ", that's throwing a shot at dikkriding fans who don't let these great players live.

True story but dude is an a$$hole and Laker fans are frontrunning dikkriders that only started supporting the team because they won a lot. That in a nutshell makes it hard for me to ever give Kobe his proper respect.

How is Kobe an a$$hole?

If Kobe is an a$$hole then what does that make MJ? Please don't make me post the stories about what Jordan did to his teammates on and off the court, and how he treated people.

When did you ever hear Kobe treat his teammates like that?

All "great players" aren't created equal.. You can "live" in your moment of greatness but you're still gonna fall short to the gold standard...

Theres one life, one love, so there can only be one king..

:ahh:

I don't have a problem with that.. Jordan isn't even in my top 5 favorite players and I get it...

It's what seperates being "the greatest" (singular) from being "one of the greats"

It's seems like you want every prince to have the same reverence as the king...That's never gonna happen...

But being a prince is still a helluva life...Steph Curry probably didn't lose a wink of sleep over an innocuous comment made by a no name sports writer or a life time Chicago guy like Wilbon...

Another thing....

Magic retired over 22 years ago and there has yet to be a point guard come along that has been given the cosign to replace him as GOAT by fans and media...Yet I've never heard the term "Magic dikk rider" used...

Who are the MJ stans on this board? Most people I'm familiar with thought Jordan was a bit of an a$$hole but they grudgingly admit he was great. I don't see many "stans" for Jordan on this site.

I'm not sure I agree with the assertion of equivalence for the Kobestans and the mythical Jordanstans. I demand evidence of the existence of Jordanstans.

MJ Stan (noun) "ehm-jay-stann"

1. One who refuses to see Kobe as the GOAT simply because his skillset, statistics, and achievements are inferior to those of one Michael Jordan.

2. Ahmad Rashad

:ahh:

Jim Brown is considered the "greatest" of all time, yet I don't see his name thrown in AD or anyone elses face to throw shade on them.

He's in my Top 3

So here it is. You haven't been debating with me...you've been arguing with "It seems like" who hasn't posted in this thread. I don't recall wanting Stephen Curry revered for his 54 points. I just wonder why we can't appreciate a niqqa beasting.....in a LOSS without MJ's big losses being brought up.

But being a prince is still a helluva life...Steph Curry probably didn't lose a wink of sleep over an innocuous comment made by a no name sports writer or a life time Chicago guy like Wilbon...
Who gives a fukk about Stephen Curry's feelings, and why is that even being brought up? :wtf:

I'm sorry, but Magic's name isn't brought up every five seconds to throw shade on a current player.

Monty Williams last week after Bron hit 6 three pointers in 10 minutes against his squad:

:heh:

These cats can't get MJ's dikk out their mouths, using him to throw shade on any player that's had a good game.

Magic in NO WAY brought up to slight a player after a good GAME.

NYC Rebel did not get owned in this thread. It seems that what he actually said is being glossed over into something else. Also to the brother Gator, you make good points and YES the "greatest" can be overrated by people, that's not impossible. Jordan isn't a overrated player by no means, BUT, at times is overrated by his fans or fans in general. You would think that the apex of winning rings is 6 because of Jordan, even though Kareem had 6 first and Bill has almost twice as many as Jordan. So I feel the brother (NYC Rebel) is making sense, but no one is hearing him...which is usually what happens when it comes to Jordan, point proven.

Ask Kobe for an autograph and you'll find out. I never said I was a fan of MJ, I respect his game but I don't like that nikka. He's an a$$hole too. Dude hates nikkas so why would I defend him?

I always wondered what would it be like if Rider or Minor would have actually lived up to the hype. Would they be hated like Kobe?

I've never seen two basketball players get as much hate as Lebron and Kobe for not being better than Jordan.

I hope when it's all said and done that Lebron fukks around and wins 8 titles to shut these hoe ass nikkas up.
Do those guys really get hate for not being better than Mike? Lebron doesn't really get hate from anyone but insecure Kobe fans who see him as a threat to being better than Kobe. White people turned on him for about 2-3 years after his decision but they've gotten over that. Kobe gets hate but not because he's not better than Mike, he gets hate because some are turned off by selfish/arrogant game and personality. A lot of the hate Kobe gets can also be contributed to his rabid fanbase who've assumed those same qualities(selfish, arrogant) in his honor.

Monty Williams, was asked whether LeBron dominates games similar to how Michael Jordan did. Williams, who played against MJ, gave a fairly straight forward answer and dissed the league’s current players.

You left that part out though my man. Williams didn't just bring Mike up out of the blue to throw shade on Lebron like you're saying, he was simply answering a question. Whoever asked the question referenced Mike and introduced him into the Q&A. That is usually the case when you see quotes former players comparing these current guys to Mike. They're asked their opinions and they give them. I just can't agree on your position regarding Mike. I agree that over the years numerous talking heads amongst the media have gone overboard comparing every decent 2g-wing player that has come along to Mike, but I don't agree that it's that serious. He's the measuring stick, the one that all will be compared to until someone comes along who's seen as better. It is what it is.

Uh... Whatever nikka. You're a Lebron fan and this is my point.
