The thread is titled Salute Kobe and the majority of the front page is about Jordan's fans and supporters..

The fact that you describe his fans as dikk riders is a statement of slander...He's the greatest to ever play his sport..

I've never heard of Babe Ruth or Muhammad Ali "dikkriders"..When greatness is rightfully appreciated it's usually not met with such disdain...

Jordan is not in control of that. So how is it a shot at "Jordan" saying that people haven't gotten over him, overdo it and threw shade at Kobe for not being him?

That has zero to do with Jordan and still doesn't answer my question. Where did I throw shade on MJ the athlete and why can't you see that I said the same about Kobe dikkriders?

Kobe and Jordan aren't peers.. So their "fans" or "dikk riders" shouldn't be viewed equally...

I had this argument with my boy the other day... He admits that Jordan is the greatest, but still feels that he's overrated...

My question to him was how do you overrate the greatest? The thing I hear from a lot of Jordan's critics is different variations of "He's the best.... But he ain't all that"..

:what:

Unless you honestly feel that Kobe is better than Jordan I don't see the point in mentioning Mike at all in a thread saluting him...

It kinda makes you guilty of the same thing you are being critical of...

Kobe and MJ aren't peers in having religous zealot dikkriders? :what:

I compared their dikkriding fans. You keep bringing it back to the context of their abilities when I in no way shape or form threw shade on anything Michael did on the court anywhere in this thread.

You're not making any sense. Michael nor Kobe are responsible for who dikk rides them....and that's where I made them peers.

Kobe was the first player victimized by the failed "Next MJ" marketing ploy by the NBA and David Stern. I appreciate his game for being "Kobe" and no one else who is always brought up and forced down our collective

I guess I don't understand what this means...I don't see how he's a victim..It's not like he ran from the "Next MJ" marketing ploy.. It can actually be argued that he embraced it to a larger degree than any other player before or after him...From my perspective he sprinted toward Jordan's legacy and all the comparassions..

What are we saluting him for?

Being a great player? No doubt

Being great despite the burden of Jordan? I guess

Being himself (Kobe)? Hell naw..

Dude is the ultimate carbon copy

If anything Iverson or LeBron deserves this compliment...

If it's all about saluting Kobe as a great then I get that.. I just don't see what Jordans fans, Stern, NBA marketing or Kobe fans have to do with it...

If you don't know what that means, you seem to be unlike most people in this thread that seem to get it.

For years, Kobe had shade thrown at him for "trying to be MJ" or constantly being compared to him. It was to the point that it was used to obscure Kobe's greatness. We see it repeatedly. shyt...Curry can score 54 points in a Garden loss and we'll see articles saying MJ did better in losses. It's a constant obscuring that dikkriders can't move on from. Let these niqqas live. Kobe was the one whose dealt with it the most.

And that has NOTHING to do with throwing shade on MJ the player.

Now this is an interesting point. :ohhh: All of all-time greats get slobbed, especially by those from their generation but you don't see the level of fervent protest with anybody else but Mike. I can't think of any all-time great from the past that has such a loyal army of detractors from their generation and succeeding generations or whom people were in a rush to replace like Mike. It's one thing for old nikkas to hate on what's new, like nikkas did with Mike. However I honestly can't think of another iconic athlete who gets so much hate from his generation and the succeeding one. nikkas hate Mike so much they latched on to a nikka that is just like him and tried to make him greater than Mike before he had even got his feet wet. Then they proceed to ride for Kobe in the same way, and with the same fervor that turned them off when it came to Mike. This Mike/Kobe shyt is deep as fukk. There's all kind of psychological shyt at play :whew:

And it was COMPLETELY justified imo.. Kobe dealt with the burden of something he caused.. Good for him I guess..

He was no victim though...

The moment I saw him throwing up Omega Psi Phi hooks when he never stepped a foot on campus, I realize he was purposely embracing what inevitably came...Now I guess at 34 he wants to be known as his own man..He's already placed HIMSELF in the position of little brother...And Mike knows this which is why he's keepin Kobe close now in an attempt to throw shade at Bron..

You don't understand how calling his fans dikkriders is a hateful statement?

Like I said.. Where are the Babe Ruth and Ali dikkriders? I've never heard of a Wayne Gretzky dikk rider in my entire life?

If you don't believe he's the greatest, then fine.. I respectfully disagree but I understand why his fans passion and support would annoy you.. But being viewed the THE GREATEST (not just "one" of the greats) comes with a certain level or reverence that usually goes without saying..Mike is the gold standard..Not just in basketball but arguable in all of sports..Comparing the passion and support of his fans with the fanbase player that was not even the best player on his own team for his first 8 seasons and is arguably not even the greatest of his franchises history is a false equivenlency..

You're just pointing out their reactions and adoration while ignoring the root of it...

Who are the MJ stans on this board? Most people I'm familiar with thought Jordan was a bit of an a$$hole but they grudgingly admit he was great. I don't see many "stans" for Jordan on this site.

I'm not sure I agree with the assertion of equivalence for the Kobestans and the mythical Jordanstans. I demand evidence of the existence of Jordanstans.

Pause....

How is that calling out "MJ" who has no control over what they do?
You're purposely misconstruing things now.

It's as simple as this..

If you believe someone is the greatest to ever do it I don't see how a group of people treating them as such is up for ridicule...

Unless you really don't believe there are indeed the greatest..

Which is why I bring up the lack of labeling of "Wayne Gretzky dikkriders"... All of the praise and glorification of him over the years hasn't produced that term...Because it's understood that he earned it...

You know what the term dikkrider means dawg..It insinuates that you are overdoing it with the praise...

So my question is, how can you give the greatest ever too much props?

To ironically quote NYCREBEL, "You see it!"
