In 2001, Kobe was the second best player in the league after Shaq. His performance in the Western Conference Playoffs proved it. You nikkas need to realize that Shaq held back Kobe INDIVIDUALLY. If Kobe switched places with AI in 2001, he would've prolly woulda averaged 35/6/5 for the season. Remember how Kobe went off whenever Shaq wasn't playing. He scored 56 points in 3 quarters in 2002 after Shaq was suspended for swinging at Brad Miller.

Not saying he'd would've won titles over Shaq but his game INDIVIDUALLY was superior to Allen Iverson in 2001. He was a better shooter, defender, and playmaker. AI was only quicker and arguably a better penetrator but I wouldn't say it was clear cut.

No he wasn't. A.I. was....

You can show that goofy ass smilie all year long...he wasn't rated higher than Iverson in 2001 or DEFINITELY wasn't the bread and butter of the Lakers. They had a losing record when Shaq wasn't there and when Kobe was out with just Shaq there, they had a winning record, which suggested he was just a role player and always was grounds for the argument of him being replaceable by McGrady or any other simiilar type with Shaq. Didn't matter. That's where all of that came from. He was a great asset to Shaq but he was a ball hog and made games harder when he took wild shots instead of them running the offense to Shaq for easy transition points. Team was dominant but that's where some of the tension came from.

In 2001, Shaq, Duncan, Garnett, Iverson, and Kobe was going strong. But really..there was no answer for Shaq when it came down to it and that's why he was the dominant player of the era. He made everything easier for everyone..perimeter players the most. The instant double teams made Kobe's job VERY easy compared to Iverson.
:wtf:
And at this point, it turns from debate to flat out delusional talk.

smh

you would think what Kobe did post-Shaq would've had nikkas reconsider their ignorant positions

A.I. was NEVER better than Kobe. Even as a 18 year old rookie, Kobe was better. Kobe was held back INDIVIDUALLY because Shaq was so dominant. Put Kobe on a garbage team like the Sixers and he woulda raped the league as well.

No disprespect to AI cause he was one of my favorite players when he played but Kobe was better than him at every aspect of basketball. AI was just quicker. Kobe was taller, stronger, better fundamentals, better shooter, defender, playmaker, etc.

This is a top 5-10 player all-time that you are comparing to a dude whose lucky to be in the top 50 all-time.

Your people had him ranked as a equal to Shaq and Iverson in 2001 and you speak of wild delusions? LOL.

You really think it's less delusional to call Kobe a role player, Kobe Bryant, than to say he was better than Allen Iverson (which can easily be backed up with reason) in 2001? So now we call people who average 29,7,7 in the playoffs role players without batting an eye now? And that's not delusional? Just admit you overstated your point and keep it moving.

Yup but that all time scoring list will be the straw that broke the jordan stans back.

You sure? He already leads jordan in Assists, Shot attempts, steals, blocks, fg%, games played, minutes played, and injuries faked.

Why would total points matter? Even kobe's 3rd biggest stan, Cantstop once said "Kobe is not better than jordan and never will be."

Will he change his mind if and when kobe has more points than jordan? :usure:

Hasn't he already passed Jordan in most statistics?

points is the big one along with titles

people basically know two things about Jordan, he scored alot of points and won 6 titles

if Kobe passes him in points it'll be a BIG DEAL

only number bigger than that would be getting more than 6 titles

If Kobe gets 6 titles and passes Jordan all-time in scoring, he would bolster his claim as being the GOAT.

Do you remember 2001, man? I keep forgetting most of you cats were like 10 back then. Kobe Bryant was not the leader of the Lakers and wasn't outplaying Iverson. He became very consistent in scoring and him and Shaq made up 60% of the offense game to game and it was always about "who was that third guy gonna be tonight" that stepped up. And Bryant was a role player when Shaq was in the game...he took alot of wild shots. Some dropped..some were str8 up fukk ups. Made games harder..when they dished to Shaq, games went by easier and were near blow outs.
