Samsung should probably make the Galaxy S5 use Tizen

Apps make or break platforms, Thats why Windows phones are having a hard time. Tizen will never be sold on a S5 it would be suicide.

and what i'm saying to You is if (would never happen but if) if tomorrow Apple and Microsoft announced the next iPhone was gonna have Windows Phone OS and iOS was being dropped the iPhone brand is so big that people will buy it anyway and the developers will start churning out Windows mobile apps.

the average consumer is a sheep the iPhone 4s uses a 30 pin and the iPhone 5 uses a lighting connector who cares we'll go out and rebuy accessories to match the new connector.

This is a forum of tech heads. You're overestimating the average consumer. I basically work a tech support style position in cable and the average consumer I visit doesn't even understand the concept of an HDMI port on their TV. If you walked in their house and grabbed their TV remote and hit 55 on it and their cable box is on HDMI 1 they're calling the cable company which is gonna roll a truck with a tech to get that TV back to HDMI 1.

it makes perfect sense.
you take a strong brand and use it to push a weak product. that weak product will likely weaken your strong brand but if the brand is strong enough it will endure and strengthen your weak product. its like training wheels for tizen.

if Samsung can go to app developers and say we sold 40 million Galaxy S4s in under 6 months and that's our brand's strength now that brand is using tizen that's something. how many other Android brand phones are moving those kinda numbers?

I don't think you get it bruh, its too much of a change to do this. What happenes when someone goes to upgrade their Galaxy to the 5 and all of a sudden all the apps they've used and purchased don't work anymore and not only that aren't even available. It would never work and would never happen. It doesn't matter if Android is featured, its at the core of every Galaxy phone ever made.

I like how condescending you are. you the same person who supported the Playstation 3, the same console Sony used to leverage Blu-Ray into being the success it now is. Its been shown that brand names can be leveraged to push other products.

Samsung doesn't use Android in the advertising of the phone now. if they switched the OS the average consumer wouldn't give a shyt granted the features were equal. Samsung can then go to software developers and say the Galaxy brand rivals the iPhone in terms of recognition and that Galaxy Brand had Tizen behind it.

If they don't do something like that Tizen is gonna be Blackberry, WebOS, or Windows Phone status. WebOS was better than iOS but Palm couldn't push the numbers and the Pre brand was weak and it never took off. HP got behind it and it still failed.

I'm gonna remind you that the entire Galaxy-line of Samsung devices/products are Android devices (Not only does that include Smartphones & Tablets, it includes point & shoot cameras, refrigerators, portable media players, Smartwatches, & etc.) . Windows 8/RT/Phone devices from Samsung are called something else. Tizen devices/products will be called something else, too.

Sony, LG, Motorola, HTC, & Nokia are doing "Birdman Handrubs" over the idotic idea of Samsung baiting & switching Android with Tizen on the Galaxy S5.

what happened when iPhone 4s users couldn't use all their cables on an iPhone 5? they bought new cables. what happened when i went from EVO LTE to an iPhone 5? i re-bought the apps.

you tell me in the Apple Google mobile device world who is really gonna bother with Tizen? there's other mobile OS platforms out there now that are dying, or dead, or only exist because billion dollar corporations pump money into them to keep them alive. who the hell is gonna buy a Tizen phone? If Samsung wants to replace Google as the mobile OS of choice the only way do it is to either use the brand they built up on Google or start paying people off to develop on their platform.

just got an android again...but the evo4g on sprint in 2010/2011 rubbed me wrong and i went back to flip phone until i got an iphone later that year.


I got tired of the apple small screen and got me a galaxy S2 and waiting for it in the mail as I type. If everything is good Imma get the S4 or mega at some point next yr when the price drops lower on ebay.

Once that happens their numbers will tank. Good luck trying to convince developers to develop apps for your OS when your api game and your install base is Larry Jones status.

Um no if they did that the iphone would lose so many cust and Apple stock will fall considerably. App devs would boycott and sue. As I said suicide.

I only wish apple would make phablet even windows has done it.

2014 more than likely, but i'm tired of waiting. if the next iphone don't come in 4.5 inches they are losing customers and they know it and they will probably come out with a phablet as well. I had an ipad for a few...but I felt it was a waste since i had a smarthpone and it wasn't laptop productive. Phablet is all I need and want to carry around...I don't like carrying around a lot of devices.


And icloud mail pisses me off when you access it through a browser, lol. only used it for notes....but onenote works for me and is more powerful so I ain't going to miss it.

I don't trust google at all (rather use outlook for syncing and personal email) ....but they got the better quality product in terms of screen size, dominate search engine, and google plus looks cleaner than facebook, google plus will be good for any type of self-run business as you can get more exposure in the search engine and it will eventually catch fire as the user-base is there and only a spark to get people to actually use it is all that is needed.

You need the blessing of a company you want to overthrow? Samsung wants Google's spot. fukk their blessing. Either Samsung should shut up and make Android phones or go all in and aggressively attack Google. They can't tip toe around what they're doing.

Personally I think Tizen is a dumb idea to begin with and putting it on the S5 instead of Android is a dumb idea but if you're gonna go with the first dumb idea then go all in with it and go with the second. Sure you'll damage the Galaxy brand but if its strong enough it will endure and if the gamble pays off it'll have enough customer base for developers to acknowledge Tizen. What you don't do is go the Palm route and launch a new platform with a new brand and just try to act like its better. that'll fall on deaf ears.

I'd honestly recommend Samsung just shut up and keep pumping out Android phones. The market doesn't need or want Tizen.
