Why do my movies need to be smart ?
Inception is trying to hard, Scary movie is more my speed.
If I wanted to be challenged, I'd read a book.
:troll:

I don't think half of you even understand what people mean by "intelligent", clearly music
cannot support the breadth of information you'd get from a graduate course in college.
That isn't what people mean by "intelligent"..
When they say "Smart" or "Intelligent" they ultimately mean well written,
they expect the music to challenge them while still being a enjoyable listen.

I'll put it like this.

Tupac's music was/is "Smart", it's "intelligent", but it doesn't
carry the condescension and pretension that Hip Hop fans generally
attribute to "intelligent" rappers who usually aren't all that bright ie Lupe Fiasco
or Canibus.

Nas, Jay-Z, Cube etc. they have these moments of pure brilliance in their
writing where they say very smart things without trying to come off as
egg heads. It's a hallmark of GOOD song/lyric writing.

Why do you need " intelligence" from rappers?

If I want to be educated I will read a book

Have your cake and eat it too, brehs.

So, is ALL rap music party music? If not, you're saying it should be? So if any of your newer generation rappers were to ever drop a verse about a scientific topic, would that be a bad thing?

No not at all.

There's a lane for that type of music

I just don't think there should be complaints when that music isn't what's popular

I think the biggest difference between a rapper like Scarface and say the migos

...is that Scarface was a platinum and gold selling artist that had a career that stretched over the course of decades and the Migos are a regional mixtape act that hasn't released an album and doesn't even have a deal yet?

Cherrypick a marginal ass arbitrary "random evil niche southern/trap rap act that's killing hip hop of the moment" and somehow build an illogical and intellectually dishonest argument that they represent the entirety of hip hop and ignore that the ACTUAL most popular acts include people like Kendrick, Jay-Z, Kanye, Drake, J. Cole, and Wale, etc. all speaking on a myriad of issues...so that you can b!tch, whine and complain about hip hop brehs

he means as a whole. as a whole. its pretty wack.

the new shcool is like 4 years deep and only a handful are successful.

i remember when there were 5 new rap stars, bigger than drake and them, every year.

Which is precisely why I said he can hold down a whole album because
he's done it several times already solo AND in a group.
