Kids on academic scholarships are allowed to work and make money for themselves and their families. Athletes are not. I knew a D1 ball player who got a job at a sneaker store and his coach personally called the manager and said he can't work there.
This exactly
You're not asking schools to pay them salaries as if they're employees. You're not asking the NCAA to stop being greedy, they can keep hoarding all that cash they rake in. You're solving for the dilemma of how to fairly compensate across different sports and different levels of achievement for the individual players. Just let them take fukking endorsements and profit off their likenesses. Boom done. The ones who have real market value will get handsomely rewarded and the ones who don't won't.
fukk I forgot about that, they can't do anything period to make money I totally forgot they can't get jobs, invalidates most of what I saidKids on academic scholarships are allowed to work and make money for themselves and their families. Athletes are not. I knew a D1 ball player who got a job at a sneaker store and his coach personally called the manager and said he can't work there.
Thats not really recruiting tho, thats more like marketing. For 99% of students all they really want is your money.Actually students do get recruited to go to school, plenty of schools send people to high schools and middle schools to talk about the colleges, at UCF we have tours literally every day, and they will email you relentlessly everyday checking up on you and will call in some cases too. For athletes their recruiting is more personal and suited to them but schools go after everyone they can dude, and athletes don't have to pay for anything here regardless, do you know how many fees other students pay for shyt they don't use goes into their tuition?
You're going to have tell me what is this point of these sports if they can't make money? Also, the discrepancy between the divisions of colleges AND sport-specific revenue is something that needs to be resolved.
College athletes are asked to do demanding things, but knowing the ones I saw that were in non-major sports OR at D-2 and D-3 schools, they managed to not only thrive but to utilize their scholastic opportunities.
I think there is a role for amateurism and something has to remain in place to highlight that.
...on a side note, I wish US Soccer would allow more younger players to go into club level without attending college first...we'd be a lot more competitive internationally if we could

What happens to the scholarships for players who enter the draft early?
Most of the reason theres female versions is Title 9You're going to have tell me what is this point of these sports if they can't make money?
Why does a college need a scholarship women tennis team or a male rowing team?
Why do the teams generating money have to cover the expense of all these other sports instead of just playing the players?
...but thats besides the point
This, I could get with.If we're going to go the whole it's an amateur league route, there should be a cap on how much the coaches can make. They don't get paid like amateur coaches. Unless you think 5 million a year is what someone coaching in an amateur league should make.
Also, Coaches get compensation, can make money off their likeness, and enjoy faculty perks all at the same time.
cause 99% of everyone else is there to fukking get a degree.why the fukk cant they do both?.....before i state my thoughts, i'm wait to hear why you think that, cause you didnt actually state a reason(s)....

With all the money the universities and the NCAA takes in....yea they can do both![]()

that argument doesn't make sense. With all the money the universities and the NCAA takes in....yea they can do both![]()
I feel like that issue is so far down the list of importance...What happens to the scholarships for players who enter the draft early?

I personally think there could be some compromise here...this is a huge loophole that needs to get fixed.fukk I forgot about that, they can't do anything period to make money I totally forgot they can't get jobs, invalidates most of what I said
