My son's school is only doing one day a week and not even for day. My wife's a teacher she put in for the medical accommodation but her union rep told the teachers we really went know what's going on until the week of school.
I'm torn on sending my son back. On one hand the most obvious I don't want my son to get covid-19. On the other hand he's going into first grade, being home everyday and not interacting with children isn't good for his development. And education wise he is going to fall so far behind. My son has a but if social anxiety and before covid hit he was finally flourishing socially, I don't want him to go back into his shell. It really isn't an easy decision.
The other thing you gotta consider is school really isn’t “school” right now.
Masks on everyone, social distancing, no extra activities or assemblies, teachers parents and students on edge. People might get sick and die.
Is that environment really beneficial for social development?
I have kids going into Kindergarten, Middle school and High School and Ive had the same thoughts as you.
I don’t know the right answer, but our schools are gonna start with all remote classes. I hope by the time the decision has to be made again, America has it’s shyt together. I know we won’t though.
