HE SAYS D-NICE STAYED IN TOUCH
AND EVEN TRACKED HIM DOWN AFTER THEY HADNT TALKED FOR YRS.

KRS VANISHED THEN PLAYED HIM
LIKE A FAN AFTER SEEING HIM
FOR THE 1ST TIME IN 30 YRS.

I DONT WANT TO HEAR YOUR THEORIES
ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AS YOU DEFEND
SOMEBODY YOU DONT EVEN KNOW
AND TALK DOWN ON THAT MANS MOTHER.

IM SPEAKING ON WHAT THE MAN SAID PERIOD.

I hear what you saying, but you also just accepting what Scott Jr said at face value about things he couldn’t know. Those first few years he’s going to have no awareness of what was going on. Those years can only be filled in by KRS, Scott’s mother and other adults around at that time.

But once Scott reaches a certain age, then we gotta take his recollection at face value, unless KRS disputes it.

I fukk wit Doggie Diamonds but that nikka def interviews and entertains a lot of crabs.

You attract what you are. That's called energy Doggie Diamonds is always angry. Been that way for over a decade at least. Glad he lost weight, glad he's producing shows.......but the fact is his energy has been OFF for a while. Talking all that shyt about Vlad and trying to turn into Vlad lite.

some of yall are wild as shyt.

your right hand man dies, you become a millionaire off what you and that man built, and you let his son go without into adulthood?

nah. loyalty and family ties run a little different where i come from.

They should. On the other hand, there's other adults involved. A lot of them have nothing to do with you and your boy's success. They have their hands out. Your boy's son hears secondhand stories all his life about how you didn't slide them money every time they asked, and how they're somehow entitled. And now the kid feels entitled...and worse, somehow cheated, as though he never got what was coming to him. The stark truth is that his pops wasn't smart enough to set up his financials while he was hot, but they can't take out their entitlement on the dead, so you know where that leads.

Too many ingredients in that mix. If that kind of kid steps to you with that vibe at 15-18, your boy's son or not, you'd think three and four times about rocking with him too.

My understanding is that the label robbed both of them. I believe there was a lawsuit.

KRS rhymed "Sleeping Bag Records you just cant trust". I stated earlier I thought it was EPMD that signed that deal with Sleeping Bag but I think it was Nice and Smooth who I was thinking of. They got like a $500 advance or something like that. EPMD didnt get much more than that. I dont remember, will have to look it up but I dont know if BDP got ANYTHING when they signed. will have to do some research on this but I wouldnt be surprised if they didnt get a dime til this day off Criminal Minded.

It wouldve been cool if KRS was involved in his life as a family figure/mentor but when you start talking about financial compensation that would have to be out of the kindness of KRS heart because if he is legally owed anything it would be from that one album and he and his mom's would be entitled as heirs. So if KRS got paid off that album then so should they, but if he didnt then he isnt really responsible beyond that.

That’s just sad man. Kris and Scott cooked up one of the greatest albums of all time and Scott fam didn’t get nothing off that? Dammit man...

"We had a fukked up contract but we signed it
And dropped the hip hop album Criminal Minded"

Yea, I don't think KRS was eating off Criminal Minded.

I don't know how much would be owed to him legally because I don't believe a lot was made directly off of Criminal Minded, but it is the foundation of KRS success. Shocking to know he has not been a part of Scotts life.

MC Shan will love to hear this :scheme:

That's the really interesting part to consider. Clearly that's a fact. Also a fact that KRS went on to drop classic songs/albums without Scott after Scott died.
What's the right thing to do under the circumstances?
If Scott had lived and they broke up before By Any Means Necessary we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

Nas’ Bleek is Jungle. Nas has put on more people than Jay ever has honestly. And he don’t put on for Dave East? Are u kidding me? Signed him. Got him a deal with Def Jam. Consistently promotes him. Consistently features with him. Put a whole song on his album basically. Godfather 4 was a Nas song. But he gave it to East. Put out a whole QB’s Finest album that even featured nikkas he was beefing wit and hating on him. U def buggin out.

Not to mention putting on

I don't understand how anyone can defend KRS not seeing Scott La Rock's namesake for over 30 years. This man is Scott La Rock's only child and KRS never came to see him. Not even once. He let Scott La Rock's son grow up in Webster projects.
This kid didn't even meet KRS in person until the Yo MTV Raps Anniversary show at the Barclay's center June 1st, 2018.
KRS-One never saw Scott La Rock's son until 1 year ago! How can anyone think that is honorable?

If I start a business with someone, being the primary source of our connections and main investor, and I die after it takes off, I would expect that my business partner would give me family my share at minimum. If not I would haunt their ass as long as I could.
The "they didn't make much back then" argument is a strawman at best. If we are 50/50 partners if we all profit is $1 I still deserve my .50 cent. Or in this case my family deserves it.

Scott La Rock Jr: "You can't change 30 years of me being in places that I shouldn't have been because you didn't do right... I grew up in the projects... but my pops is one of the world's greatest DJs, his records still get spun everywhere under the sun. These nikkas is still on world tours, making thousands of dollars and I grew up in the Ps. I went to public schools, I fought nikkas, I gang-banged and I shouldn't have had to go through none of that."

The way that he told the story D-Nice losing contact with him, then walking through the projects and knocking on doors until he found him makes KRS look even worse.

You guys keep bringing up money but what he is complaining about would not have cost KRS a penny.
How about inviting him to studio sessions, teaching him to produce or engineer, making sure he was backstage at all the events. Getting him an internship at one of the many labels that KRS has been signed to.
Giving him advice on girls, bringing him into Zulu nation (and maybe he wouldn't have turned Blood) randomly picking him up in grade school so he can get some of the popularity that comes with having a famous relative.

All of those things would have cost him nothing but a bit of time and concern. Give him a few hours of seeing your life and all of the possibilities to escape the despair and hopelessness that clouds the projects

KRS is foul for never checking in on Jr. no matter how you slice it. The fact that he never sent him $5 makes him a complete scumbag.
Because label money aside, if he's getting paid for a show and performs any songs that Scott was a part then he is receiving money that would have gone to Scott. He just decided that he didn't "owe" it to Scott and his family.

Folks can't advance blaming others for the reason why they aren't succeeding...........

Even more relevant. Ms Melody, who was KRS wife at the time and was actually around for a few records, though they haven''t been together for a few decades, does she deserve to say "Hey I was a part of BDP when it started off and held Kris down, I'm not doing too hot and I know he has a wife and kids and all that but he needs to be sending me something or coming back and making sure I'm straight."

KRS One is a giving dude. He also busts his ass touring just to keep a roof over his and his families heads. I can't take sideline people who watch you work then say "Hey you and my pops were cool, I know the deal was junk but what you got for me?"

Can already tell son ain't humble. If he came at KRS with some type talent or was like "Kris I'm Scott's son I'm doing this and that now check it out"

I can damn near guarantee KRS would have put him on. And I've seen KRS hear a bunch of dudes he thought were talented freestyle, gave him a cd and a shirt, and KRS let them open shows and tour with him. This is facts. Be humble and bring something to the table and you get the chance to PUT YOURSELF ON.

Nobody has time to carry dead weight, that just eventually becomes a money pit.

Let’s keep it all the way funky. KRS and Scott knew each other for about a year and a half.....total. According to old heads Scott was shooter/fighter who made a bad situation with D-Nice worse by getting physical and the other side retaliated and that led to his murder.

Scott and KRS met in 86, Scott was murdered in 87. Now, should KRS move his family and his 8 siblings to a big house, and how long should he pay the rent? I mean, his entire view of the situation was fed to him by his moms. BDP never was Death Row or Bad Boy records making millions. They probably made enough to live ok, but that’s it. There is no “bag” for the kids of a mildly successful rap group from over 30 years ago that lasted 5 yrs.
