Should have had it wrapped up in the WCF but the refs fouled both Pippen and Sabonis out of Game 7 and gave the Lakers at 37 to 16 free throw advantage so they could squeeze out the victory.

A bunch of the calls in that game were fukking wild.

Hard for a perimeter defender to have the kind of impact defensively as a center.

With the exception one year of Gary Payton, it was always centers winning DPOY during Pippen’s defensive peak.

The one that is more surprising is Duncan never winning DPOY.

Make your case for the years he should have won it and over who

Ok Scottie Pippen's prime started around 1989

1988-89 Mark Eaton
1989–90 Dennis Rodman
1990–91 Dennis Rodman
1991–92 David Robinson
1992–93 Hakeem Olajuwon
1993–94 Hakeem Olajuwon
1994–95 Dikembe Mutombo
1995–96 Gary Payton
1996–97 Dikembe Mutombo
1997–98 Dikembe Mutombo
1998–99 Alonzo Mourning
1999–00 Alonzo Mourning

He should have gotten 1 off of Mutombo

I personally don't like seeing Centers getting 3+ DPOY awards. Yes they are great on defense, but it's lazy on the voters. While on the other hand non-Centers have to have to be all time extraordinary great defenders to even get attention

Now that I look at it, Pippen had stiff competition competing against Rodman, D-Rob, Hakeem, Payton, and Mutombo. So I could see why it was tough for him to rack up DPOY awards

He’s not wrong at all, but people are going to insist otherwise because of their biases to Jordan. A lot of Pippen is saying is the truth, but people won’t admit it.
He is wrong. MJ wasnt his competition for DPOY year in and year out, if anything the media’s “obsession” with him would have boosted Pippen by association.

He's right:yeshrug: the fact that arguably the best defender ever, never won DPOY is a travesty.

This was when refs were outright betting on games.

Yeah, IDK if it had anything to do with MJ; but even now, if you were to ask people who they had in their top 5 perimeter defenders list, MJ would probably come up over Pippen.

In actuality, they were never really close.
