Florio..

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, multiple reports of significant progress aren’t accurate. A consensus hasn’t been reached on dollars or terms.

The discussions on a new contract began before the Scouting Combine. The goal is indeed getting something done before the draft, which starts in 16 days.

It could indeed happen. As the source explained it, progress has been made but it’s “nowhere near what has been reported.”

You're exposing your lack of football knowledge. Is that why Revis didn't do as well in Tampa? Is he a system corner also?
:what:

revis was still an elite corner playing in that shytty system. he showed he can play the sherman role, now can sherman play the revis role?

Speaking of Jairus Byrd, Earl Thomas is going to want more then him that is for sure. That is going to be a interesting deal. With Earl being arguably the best safety in the game I wonder what he will get.
I know he'll get over 10 milly per, the rumor is since he is for sure the best safety in the game, he might be asking for top corner money also. The advantage is that if they get Sherm done, if worse comes to worse and they cant get a deal done, they can still franchise Earl for less than they will end up paying him per year.

Ya that makes sense. Also if Earl wants top CB money it makes sense that Shermen would get done before him. As with Sherman there is a straight line with Revis to base negotiations off of. Where with Earl your kinda entering uncharted water for safety money..

Good point on being able to use the franchise tag.

The idea is (I imagine): You get the Sherman deal done at as low a number as you possibly can... and then you're able to tier-down thomas from there. You never want to be setting the market from the bottom-up.
i dont know about that. sherman is the best CB in the game but earl might be the best safety in the game. If im earl's agent, I ask for AT LEAST as much as Sherm.

This may have been discussed in previous threads but does anyone think that elite corners are or will become the hired guns of NFL rosters? Perhaps Revis will go down as a trendsetter of sorts with how his career has unfolded thus far. Say Sherman gets paid 12+ per on his this deal. It may make sense for the next 2 or 3 years for Seattle to pay him and then decide to go in another direction. From there Sherman moves on to another team that is 1 piece away from contending in their eyes and they pay him similar money. Rinse and repeat. Fans maybe robbed of being able to watch a great talent on their team for many years but at the end of the day the corner still gets paid what he's worth and the team still has some amount of roster flexibility.
