Yeah I get this move. Saints are a long way from being contenders, it’s best to do some other shyt for a year or 2 and then go to a team that’s ready to win

Long way? :dahell:
We were 5-2 with random #s scattering the field before our qb went down and we were one game out the offs while being littered with the 2nd most injuries in the league.
How is that far off? :gucci:

He'll be coaching again.

They said the same thing about Cowher... once these guys realize they can get paid the same and not have to deal with all the headaches, it's not worth it. Payton's reached the mountaintop already, does he really wanna be working 90 hour weeks at 60+?

Come on bruh… if the Saints were oh so close to being SB contenders Payton wouldn’t have abandoned y’all like this. He sees the writing on the wall and knows it downhill from here. Saints are a middle of the pack team. There is a huge gap to move up from there to an actual contender.

Saints cap situation is awful, and they have very few options to fix it. Maybe they restructure some people and kick the can down the road but that team needs a rebuild. He’s gonna be coaching again in a year or two and it will be for a team that’s a little better constructed to make a SB run

Looks like he couldn't make a decent run without Brees.

They said Gruden wouldn't coach again he did.
it took 100 mill to get him to come back

and those tv contracts have ballooned since then

Romo making franchise QB money to call games

I don’t see him coming back if he’s making 20+ mill per year
