Come on bruh… if the Saints were oh so close to being SB contenders Payton wouldn’t have abandoned y’all like this. He sees the writing on the wall and knows it downhill from here. Saints are a middle of the pack team. There is a huge gap to move up from there to an actual contender.

Saints cap situation is awful, and they have very few options to fix it. Maybe they restructure some people and kick the can down the road but that team needs a rebuild. He’s gonna be coaching again in a year or two and it will be for a team that’s a little better constructed to make a SB run
Yup you don’t know anything

Yeah I don’t think the next guy will give him a chance.
Typically coaches like to bring in their own QBs and groom them unless you are a walking into a situation with like GB or Dallas.

But unless the Saints can trade for Russ or something, they will be starting Jameis. The draft is weak this year and the Saints are in the high teens I believe. They can trade up for a Matt Corral or some shyt but they are better off trying to go all in on Bryce Young or CJ Stroud next year.

So Jameis should get at least one more shot at holding down that position.

Top tier coach, who is better than some realize

His play design guided that Kerry Collins Giants team to the Super Bowl vs the Ravens

Found Romo for Dallas - who hadn't had a good qb in forever

Went to the Saints and quickly turned a perrenial loser into Super bowl champs and regular threat in the NFC. And Brees damn sure wasn't Brees until Sean Payton brought em to NO. Chargers got rid of Brees for Rivers.. Payton guided him into one of the most prolific passers ever. Im surprised Payton only won one Super bowl

We had one of the best defenses in the league and a completely battered and missing offense.
How is that far from being a contender.
We were forreal a Rams choke job from wing where the 9ers are right now. So again what are you talking about?
And folks been saying that bout our cap for 10 years and we still manage cause we got cap magicians in the front office

It’s not bro jerry don’t know how to let a coach coach and after been with us for 15 years and running things the way he want them nah
He is extremely close with the Jones family. Cowboys reporters describe it as a “love affair” and that he wants to coach in Dallas. They are adamant about it - fact not speculation.

You realize he’s kept his home in Dallas all these years and spends a majority of his time in the off-season here.

There ain't no salary cap for coaches. Jerry's gonna be 80 years old and he can't take it with him. You at least have to hear a 'no' from Payton, IMO

I don't see Jerry eating all that money. He would still have to pay McCarthy the remainder of his contract, pay the saints for Peyton then pay Peyton a contract worthy of him turning down at least $10M from Fox. Way too much money for a guy who kept trotting out Taysom Hill and only won 1 ring.

If Jerry feels that it gets him closer to a Superbowl, then he'd definitely do it.
