Sean Price was the catalyst for the underground/street rap resurgence

That 'small batch vinyl' wave is one of my favourite things to happen to hip-hop in a minute.

shyt reminds me of being in my teens, looking for import vinyl on lunchbreak like ,hoping not to get fleeced on the price.

theres a hypebeast element to it, but shyt im just glad theres a couple thousand ppl looking for vinyl of music i enjoy

It's growing big time. To the point where it's frustrating and I honestly am thinking about giving up on vinyls for anything that's not a pre-order.

Anyone that got a contract with a vinyl company a handful or more of years ago is making good money now. Vinyl margins are solid, and I'm sure the companies that press wax up are charging a lot more to do so these days.

Facts..Sean Price passed literally right before that lane took off to what it is now & his personality would be perfect for the game rn..Another P that passed helped set off this underground resurgence to with this album

We're really lucky we got that album too. It was meant to be an mp3 Datpiff style mixtape release, but 50 actually let Prodigy work outside of his G-Unit deal to get a real indie deal with Koch Records to put that out as an official project. That added a lot of legitimacy to the album, and 50 dd NOT have to do that. In fact, he was really annoyed with G-Unit at the time, and that was the last year G-Unit as an expanded label was united before it was more or less disbanded by 50.

I strongly believe this album would not be considered as much of a cult classic as it is if it had just been dropped as intended: a G-Unit Radio series tape.

Absolutely. I’d also argue P had one if the most underrated solo catalogues

I know everyone likes to credit Griseld and Roc Marciano for making that style of rap huge

But to me, Sean Price is the grandfather of that movement. From when Monkey Bars came out, til his death, he was pushing that Boom Bap NY Street rap rap in the forefront.

It's sad because he would be having the best time of his career right now. All these big deals and big looks that the "hardcore NY rappers" are getting now, he'd be one of the people spearheading it. Plus personality wise, he trumps all of them. He'd probably have his own show on one of these networks Vice, Revolt, etc...

I'll ride for Roc Marci till I die but it's a fact that Sean Price hopping on the Snow remix got him more shine than anything else at the time.



I only remember a couple rap blogs posting Roc's shyt. But when the remix hit, it was everywhere on the blogs and sites.

Matter of fact since Jay has a tendency to be a trend-chaser, I've even got a conspiracy theory that Jay's next album is going to be more like the current underground/indie NY sound. I think Tea in China is gonna be a big influence for Jay's next album.
