Expansion at this point would be counterproductive to the success of the SEC....it'd likely cause implosion by schools overvaluing their brand and wanting to either brand off into a new conference/go independent.

well college hoops are more individual team oriented rather than conference, unlike football.

The Big East and The University of Texas/Longhorn Network are glaring examples of why this isn't as true as you'd think.

all it takes is one school think it's THAT much more than the other members of the conference, or a collective who feel they represent what the conference is/was really about.

:snoop: at folks thinking AAU member institutions would join the SEC. There are actually institutions who *wait for it* are more concerned about academics. They only got 3 anyway (Vandy, aTm & UF :mindblown:)
Edit: a 4th--that POS institution in Columbia, MO

If the SEC expands to include two more teams in the future, who do you think gets added?

I'd say UNC and West Virginia to the SEC East, pushing Mizzou to the SEC West.

UNC is a no-brainer.

Duke will bytch due to the basketball rivalry. But, UNC in the SEC would be a good fit.

I remember that a team with a rivalry would make sense I doubt they go after Texas still but I doubt any else goes to the sec at this point don't they have enough teams?

Yep. Which is why Texas won't join the SEC. From what I've read on many Texas boards, the faculty and admins are against the SEC because of that and are in love with the Big 10 and Pac 12. Also, UNC will never leave the ACC. Especially while Duke and NC State are existing.

The SEC needs to get smaller, not bigger. Hell, I would prefer something like 8 conferences of 10 teams or so, and then a playoff between the 8 champions.

Yup Hell the headquarters for the acc is in North Carolina

Damn. That rules them out!

Texas A&M and LSU would block Houston.

Kentucky colludes with other member schools to block Louisville.

I read that there's a gentleman's agreement among Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Kentucky to block Georgia Tech, Clemson, Miami/FSU and Louisville from ever entering the SEC. The crazy part is Georgia Tech was a founding member of the SEC.

Oklahoma and Kansas/Kansas St would be worth considering.
