Oh if you’re single making that much then you should be living good as you don’t have child care expenses or other things that come along with having kids. If you’re struggling with that amount, then you’re wasting money somewhere.

Now if you have a family, plus student loans (husband and wife) and taking care of other people, then I could see how 200K would not be enough depending on where you live. That’s why I don’t think they should have reduced the threshold even if I get why they did it. 80K is not considered rich depending on the expenses you have and people you’re having to help out. Have people making 80K and I guarantee you the majority of them would still say that it’s not enough.

It’s exactly like a celebrity or an athlete having to foot the bill for multiple family members and covering EVERY expense. It would amaze people who quick that bill can add up if you aren’t paying attention to it.
I think the cap is $160k for families?

Nah they lowered the cap to $150K cutting out 12 million adults and 4.6 million children in the process. Dudes on here were saying that it was cool because 80K is "rich" when it's really not depending on the expenses that you have plus other factors.

smh. We already know about Black exploitation/poverty pimping/religious/non-profit orgs gaslighting for politicians but now pregnancy pimping for votes?

The same "unemployed single mother of 4," who's the target of vitriolic rants about irresponsibility in another thread, could've had living rent covered/UBI/Medicare/monthly stimulus checks since the beginning of pandemic, if the Dems/Repubs weren't prioritizing their donors/lobby groups' wishes over the needs of the citizens, as the stimulus breakdown proves. shyt, she could've had $15k if the Dems called the Repubs bluff

only "helping" folks facing extreme poverty/circumstances is how you sustain a permanent underclass
SOLUTION: regardless of employment status or number of kids I have, provide quality assistance that encourages me to actively improve my situation, especially during this pandemic
It's been proven time and again that government assistance does not disincentivize work (or "bettering yourself") among the poor. I like how you hide your dumb right-wing talking points behind spoilers. The rest of your post is more right-wing rhetoric that's not supported by reality.

I could have swore it was 160k? Either way, it was lowered from 200k right?
There is no way to do this perfect and also quickly. People who need it won’t get it. People who don’t need it, will get it.
Lowering it was stupid politically as I’ve heard it only saved 12 billion and stands to alienate a considerable number of voters. All to appease Republicans in West VA. Crazy.

Biden sneakily agreed to lower the threshold a few days ago. It was stupid politically especially since the 2K was the only reason that they won both of those seats, so to fukk some of those voters is rather dumb. People who think otherwise must not realize that a lot of people don't care to vote (especially in a runoff) unless they have an incentive to do so.

They didn't have any other choice though but to cave in to Manchin's demands even as he has Republican tendencies. He's still a Democrat on the ballot so going after him gives Republicans ammunition to take his seat. I still believe that Manchin is a double agent for Mitch and that's why he was cool with losing the Senate.

In the Stimulus Bill, a Policy Revolution in Aid for Children

Democrats’ plan, full benefits extend to single parents with incomes of $112,500 and couples with $150,000.

Under Mr. Biden’s plan, a nonworking mother with three young children could receive $10,800 a year, plus food stamps and Medicaid

The president now promotes projections that the monthly checks — up to $300 for young children and $250 for those over 5 — would cut child poverty by 45 percent, and by more than 50 percent among Black families.

The plan establishes the benefit for a single year. But if it becomes permanent, as Democrats intend, it will greatly enlarge the safety net for the poor and the middle class at a time when the volatile modern economy often leaves families moving between those groups. More than 93 percent of children — 69 million — would receive benefits under the plan, at a one-year cost of more than $100 billion.

Night of the Georgia runoffs there was a closed door meeting where Manchin apparently wanted to switch parties but Mitch told him not to, probably because he wanted ears in all the private democrats meetings.

If you were living above your means pre pandemic on 80,000. 1400 ain’t going to fix that.

This is meant to be a life raft. Not a new boat.

$1400 is enough bread to make a difference in a lot of people’s life who has been struggling since the pandemic regardless of income. Just because you were making $80,000 pre pandemic doesn’t mean that you’re still making that amount now.

All levels of income got hit because of COVID-19 and not just the little guys. People just don’t seem to realize that.

I can totally believe it. I knew something was up with how he would have rather lost seats than come up off the $2,000. One of the rare times that he got outhustled when Trump pulled the stunt that he did lol.

The worst part about it is that there’s nothing Democrats can do about it as they need his vote. He’s become essentially the most important person in Congress right now because of it.
