Reminds me of the day it was perfect outside, so during our lunch instead of napping somewhere secluded- I choose to go outside and chill on the bench where some of the other employees eat.

I walk around the bench to take a seat and this white guy says, "Ah, King Jay has finally decided to bless us with his presence".

Jeez. Cant even enjoy a good day outside.

Cant win for losing with these people.

Most of the time the flack I get is from people whose identities revolve heavily around cliques. They put so much work into building their image around being associated with people that it kills them to see those that are genuinely content with themselves.

I avoid groups, especially at work. Going out with coworkers can be the WOAT experiences. :snoop: You get that gossip chatty patty talk which I hate. If you're someone I'm cool with I can't stand around to watch you get slandered while you can't defend yourself. It feels lame to talk shyt about people, If I got a problem with a person, I'll take them aside and hash it out in private. Another reason why I keep to myself.

Yeah, that's why i stay out of a lot of fukkery threads on here (I can't say that I never fall into the traps though). If I catch them in a thread without much traffic, that's when I'll usually try and speak my piece with them.

Its very very simple and @Nelomaxwell already hit it on the head.
People in our society don't know how to handle silent, private people.

I'll take it 1 step further.
People in our society don't know how to handle silence and privacy period.

I'm not going to pretend like I'm an introverted silent person, cuz that would be bullshyt. But my brothers are and most people in my profession are. The difference is, I can recognize when someone just wants to put on headphones and get their shyt done. I don't take offense to it on a personal level like the majority of extroverted people seem to do.

Just a observation, but I noticed that women don't really get the same treatment if they're introverted. Like if you're a women and introverted, people assume you're studious or a book reader or something in that bracket. But if you're a male, especially a young Black man, if you're not turning up 25/8 then you get labelled a lot differently.

:whoa:
This isn't a women bashing post and please don't take it there, just something I noticed.

Very true.

It's funny though, I was very social until I got into my late 20s and more involved with school and work.. At which point I didn't even care about what folks think.. I talk when I have to but I prefer to watch and be silent most of the time if I can.

I'm one of the biggest introverts around and I'm not changing to please people. No ain't changing who they are for me - as well they shouldn't. I'm not anti social or unfriendly at all, but people for the most part are just full of shyt. Plus I have my reasons for being as quiet as I am, but once people get to know me they see that I'm good company, I'm just not giving myself away so easily like I did in the past.

The truth is, some folks are just too paranoid when it comes to introverts and just need to mind their own business. A person is quiet and keeps to themselves - so what? It doesn't mean they're stuck up, plotting shyt, untrustworthy etc or whatever crazy misconceptions people have. These are the same people who will be out with friends in a social environment, see a person chilling on their own and worry so much about that individual. You care so much as an extrovert, why not go up and engage them yourself? Of course some people are depressed, suffer from anxiety etc and all that. For the rest of us, we're just fine the way we are. As for claiming that we're missing out - yeah we are....on all the needless drama, pain and bullshyt.

Swings and roundabouts. An unmarried woman of a certain age, people make worse assumptions than if you are a male and unmarried, even today. Men they just assume don't want to settle down and many men just prefer to live alone and it's seen as more acceptable ,with women they tend to think they are weird or out to steal another womans husband.

Oh look it's this thread again, where a bunch of people think they are more special then other people and bemoan generalisations while using generalisations against other people.
