Why wouldn't you just go the IT route and work in a datacenter with that HVAC knowledge?

i went to school full time and had at least a part time if not full time jobs. not sure why you think you need to stop working to go to school.
Engineering is not like other degrees. Its incomparable to everything except medschool in difficulty.

He will have to stop literally everything in his life if @TheKongoEmpire ever hopes to pass differential equations/partial diiferentialCalc. We had young college students having mental breakdowns over these engineering courses despite having no job and still having to spend hours on a single math problem in a set of 30 of them. Thats not even counting the physics or major specific coursework.

Its pure academic hazing with unnecessary difficulty and very little of it will actual be used in his career; but its mandatory in every engineering degree. You cant just memorize a book to pass these tests.

Wish you luck out there, @TheKongoEmpire. it will be worth it on the back end when you working for Seimens or GE :salute:

Most people that are being truly hurt by student loans didn’t finish college
I know, with a decent degree, you will typically have the means to support yourself. Without it, that's where the struggle and strife usually happens because you have to take what you can get to make ends meet rather than be a highly valued free agent on the market

Techs who make the most money are those who can sell the most systems. And as far as data centers are concerned, I've heard those subcontracted out.
I would love to get out of my field and do something more specialized like this.
