The most interesting thing I find about the insurance fraud in the NBA/NFL is that it's the younger players whose doing the scamming in spite of them benefitting more from the influx of cash into the leagues compared to the OG players who never had it like that.

You would think that they would have been the ones doing the scamming instead. Those OG players are just glad to have any help coming in, which is why they're pissed at what's going on.

Friend of mine works in financial planning with athletes and entertainers in Florida. He said while there are a lot of guys who quietly do the right thing and are set for life, he’s realizing a lot of these dudes simply can’t be helped. They don’t listen, they won’t stop spending, and they fall for any stupid “investment” a friend or family member brings them.

Worst part is when it’s close to the end but not there yet. That moment where you’re being told it’s time to sell assets because you simply can’t afford 5 mortgages anymore. These guys still have time to get their shyt together but don’t. And then that’s the point where dudes get desperate and start working jobs or try to move down south (where it’s less expensive) and disappear. I’ve heard wild stories about dudes we would have assumed were set for life.

Id setup some kind of trust fund or something that I cant touch until I'm like 50 years old(kinda like what Reebok did with AI) and put at least 1/3 of my career earnings there as a safety net incase I get caught up :hubie:

No excuse to be scamming after making millions in the NBA, hell even if u go broke u have access to all kinds of revenue streams just based off of being in the league.

He said he grandfather told him it’s not about how much you make, it’s how much you keep. His first two seasons, he was making over $60k then over $70k. He never saw $40M playing in the NFL, but he wasn’t dumb with his money like a lot of these dudes who actually made more in their careers.

He also grew up dirt poor. His grandfather instilled in him and shannon to always manage your money.

Sharpe said he stayed frugal his 1st few years in the league too.

Also this ain't no athlete issue too. Even well to do high earners have this issue when they run out of money. My brother in law who is older than me said that after 9/11 when all these engineers were laid off (including him), many refused to get lower paying jobs once their unemployment ran out.

Some of the kats he knew would have their unemployment run out and instead of just getting some basic low paying salary job or hourly job to get some money in their pocket (instead of eating on their savings or 401k). Many of them said the hell with that cause they were worried about what others thought.

My brother in law instead had a under the table side job when he was laid off as an engineer getting unemployment checks. Then when his unemployment benefits ran out he got a job at Walmart and was delivering papers until he was able to get another engineering job then quit those jobs.

Yep and it's the same with regular folks. Everyone knows a older man or woman who had a great high paying job. But blew money on dumb shyt or kept pulling out their retirement and/or 401k for years and years.

Now they retired or forced to retire and don't have any money but social security. Then they kids or grandkids got to take care of them or pay their bills.

Real talk most Americans are absolutely horrible with their money it's just that with professional athletes their poor money choices are placed on front street. If you know someone who works at a bank they will tell you off the record how many times folks get check deposits, income tax deposits and etc. The money is spent 2 or 3 days later and they bouncing charges and checks. All their credit cards are maxed out and other debt is behind in payments.

I know a sista now. Smart and absolutely beautiful. The girl is as dumb with money as she is beautiful. She makes 95k a year and sallie mae garnished her work checks because she is 15k behind in student loan payments. She actually thought she could go 4 years without paying student loans and uncle same would do nothing.

the problem is the athletes who were involved in this shyt…a lot of them were knuckleheads as is who could barely stay out of trouble when they were in the NBA and at the top of their game…some of these dudes cannot handle a 9-5 or coaching responsibilities unfortunately

Says the man who gets paid millions to talk about sports knowing he will never have that struggle.

Being able to pivot your sports knowledge into another platform or educate yourself in another field, is nothing to be ashamed of.

Woe is me.

:hhh:

Meanwhile you have average thots on Onlyfans making 20k+ a week just by showing their naked bodies online

This whole system is fukked; can’t wait for the day I leave this mfer:hhh:

Supply and demand, capitalism 101.

The league gives them the opportunity to play and in turn they sign contracts. When the body or game passes them by, the contract stops. Whether you want to fall to being obsolete is on you.

This set of twins need to read more.

Did your friend mention the mostly jewish agents and financial planners who have these dudes sign power of attorneys and then collude with in house accountants and lawyers to "legally" rob them of those millions? And then have them sign NDA's on top of that so they can't talk about it?

I doubt it, cause I never hear any of them mentioned when stories like these come up.
