So many former NFL players are on Twitter saying it's not unusual for backups to not get first team reps but this is all a grand conspiracy to sabotage Sheduer Sanders.

There was a player that said Justin Herbert wasn't even getting first team reps in training camps or practice all and he was the 6th overall pick.
What’s Brandon Staley doing now?

You dudes twisting yourself into a knot to dispute the lack of 1st team rep issue when Stefanski has rendered your argument mute because everything he didn't do with Shaduer he's done for Gabriel

Stop posting tweets from shytty former backups please

Yeah, you're unhinged, lol, and contradict yourself all throughout this post.

As far as drafting QBs close together--it's called "hedging your bets"--Washington being the prime example of that with Cousins & RG3 but I'm sure you'll find a way to explain that away. And it's not 1:1 but the Browns themselves had Kessler and Kizer on the same roster together on some back-to-back shyt which normally doesn't happen either, but hey, it's the Browns.

Which leads me to my next point....what's more likely? That the incompetent Browns org that can't develop a QB as you mentioned is self-sabotaging some future goat or that they simply mishandle things in what is already a poor situation with 2 QBs who were always gonna have an uphill battle?

See, you got the wrong one, cuz no one is caping for that org by any means AND I think KS needs to be fired, but that'll has nothing to do with "setting him up to fail" 😂

Reps get split all kind of ways for all kinds of reasons---and roles shift---and none of that hinges on YALL'S level of personal hype for someone.

"Nothing about what they're doing is normal". What 🤣

TLDR; Organization dysfunction...yes. Some grand scheme to (further) humble Shedeur while smiting their own face to try and not win games, I think not.

Yep

Those former backups actually played in the NFL and can speak on how first team reps are distributed.

You're not saying anything. Contrarian babble

Shadeur wasn't prepared to play in the same manner as Gabriel when both were in same role

This is a fact. This is what people are pointing out.

Stop quoting me trying to be friends and talk ball 🏈

Why do yall even care so much? Drew Brees just went on the record and said all these new guys need at least 50 starts in the league before a proper judgements can be made about their status

Yes you are in here caping for the browns org and stefanksi. The buck stops with them. If you can agree the coach sucks and needs to be fired and org is dysfunctional then why do you keep kissing their ass and making excuses when folks are rightfully calling out their bad decisions and mishandling of the QB situation. self sabotaoge is exactly what poorly run organizations do. They traded their vet QB to their division rival and made them a better team. That's unexplainable self sabotage right there. If the browns wanted to win games they wouldn't have drafted Gabriel to begin with. Nobody had Dillon graded as a 3rd round pick going into the draft. His flaws and physical limitations were always known. Regardless of where Sanders fell in the draft his upside and potential was always greater than Dillons.

The end result of whatever you call what they have been doing was that Shaduer was thrown out out there with no reps and very little prep even though he was named QB2 for multiple games now. That's a setup to fail. You are trying to argue intent. The intent doesn't matter. Whether it was intentional or just simply incompetence by Stefanski and the browns the direct end result of their decisions and actions was having their QB 2 Rookie placed in the bad situation where he was learning, throwing to and playing with his teammates for the first time in the middle of a competitive game. Maybe you think that is normal and good coaching.. I call that setting up your rookie QB to fail and plenty of NFL players and pundits have expressed the same sentiment.

I think everybody is overthinking this...

I don't think there was some grand conspiracy against Sheduer to sabotage his career :russ:

I honestly think the Browns just viewed him as their permanent backup QB and treated him as such. They simply don't care about him nearly as much as the public does, he's just a backup. Thats probably why Stefanksi had no issues saying he's never practiced with the starters. Is his mind he was probably taking up for Sanders by giving him an excuse for playing so poorly.

It's not that big of a deal lol. But Gabriel and Sanders are not starting in the NFL long term anyway. We are literally arguing over backups.

No quarterback has looked good for the Browns.

Mahomes, Hurts, Allen and (healthy) Lamar would struggle to win 7 or 8 games with this squad.

Shedeur has a lot of room to grow and improve but no one is taking this Browns squad anywhere.

It also doesn't help that the Browns coaches and some of the front office NEVER wanted Shedeur in the first place. They will do everything possible to help DG look as good as he can....and they won't do SS any favors.

Not an excuse for Shedeur to play that poorly, but let's not act like Cleveland is the Harvard of QB development.

Stefanski watched Skatteboo have his ankle bone shoved out of his skin and still thought to himself "no reps for you Shedeur" He's profoundly one of the dumbest coaches I've seen in a while.
