it didn’t scare me it just had me like the whole movie.
Daughter getting decapitated, the granny on fire outside, the lady yelling at the son across the street, seeing Charlie’s head, the bugs, headless granny in the attic, mom on the wall in the back, possessed mom chasing the son, naked old people, the headless grandma bowing to paimon. It was all so weird! Also why did Charlie cut the birds head off??
That’s what I love about it. I LOVE horror movies but I’m mostly into like psychological thrillers and eerie horror (like identity,Donnie darko , vivarium, the others, the awakening) etc so this was right up my alley lol. Also another good one is The hole in the ground.
Charlie having an affinity to art, and mutilation was a nod to her being a reincarnation of Pailin, as he enjoyed those things. I think that’s the reason If i remember correctly
Here’s the thing. The movie isn’t the scariest, but what it does, and does well...is it leaves you in a very uneasy feeling for pretty much the whole thing. Then shyt gets ramped up to 10 real quick. I loved it. Ain’t no jump scared to give you a break, it leaves you in that EXPECTING a jump scare all movie and the payoff is so worth it and fukked up. Loved that shyt.
I don't think it was scary. It was a well told story but they mix the supernatural with the mother's possession, with the cult which makes the story feel a little forced. I liked the symbolisms like when the mother walked down the hall and the camera was upside down. How the living room had two identical houses upside down from each other.
I think 1408 was a better scary movie, but Hereditary was good though.
