Should marriage be important to the black community?

Black people need to accept that our definition of "family" is not going to be a married couple with children. While it's a great set-up, we don't really form the proper relationships/friendships with each other to pull it off properly, imo. We need to keep our children out of poverty and I believe we can achieve this through multi-generational living and just general common sense.

I am NOT pro single mothers. I am NOT anti-marriage either, but we need to be realistic.

This quote got me thinking is the notion of marrying working for us as a whole? Or are we attempting to participate in a race we no longer have a horse in?

Marriage should be important to Black folks. But, as of right now, the masses of Black Americans are too fukked up and don't value family; don't really know what family is to have large numbers of Blacks marrying in the future. Recent Black marriages are now mostly made of college educated Blacks and that won't change.

And, this is what's wrong with most Black Americans. Low expectations; no hope; no standards. Multi-generational living but most of the kids are being raised by women so the kids will be living with multiple generations of Black women who each have a net worth of like $5. How in the hell will these children not be impoverished?

I say no because it is essentially viewed as a construct of religion. I think it's fallacy to across the board think people who don't subscribe to religion will also see the value and work to maintain marriage as we "know" it. That isn't an indictment on anyone's beliefs.

That said, I think we need a more honest dialogue on monogamy.

I don't know man in #GMB for the most part but in all seriousness yes. If we want stable homes for black families to raise up healthy young boys and girls into productive men and women the blue print is the way the white American families were run back in the early 1900's.

Other cultures look at marriage as a business. Not saying they don't "fall' in love but its expected you must get married and have a family unit. A lot of the men still cheat fukk around, have side chicks but they know they must get married because that is what is expected to establish a foundation for the family.

Also American whites get married quick but they asses are quick to divorce too. And the number of white single moms IS NEVER going to be reported accurately....keep believing all these numbers. How many white chicks YOU know slutting it up. Yet they abortion and OOW baby numbers are sooooo much lower than black women . Are white chicks REALLY having that much less sex .

I told the story before about how I did clinicals at a private OBY/GYN clinic of mostly middle upper class white women and let me tell you there shyt is covered up or kept "private" ......but black women at the health department and Planned Parenthood stay being "studied" and always signing away rights to have their "information" used in studies as a result of using government ran clinics and healthcare

The blueprint is Black immigrants in the U.S. and their family structures, the rate at which they create businesses, major in profitable fields, and are filling up the elite colleges and universities in the U.S. Nigerian Americans are the most educated ethnic group in the U.S. Blacks from Africa and the Caribbean and their children are over 40% of Black students in America's elite colleges and universities, Blacks from Africa and the Caribbean earn and achieve educationally on par with Asian Americans and outearn most Whites.

Slavery didn't fukk up the Black family. Black men regularly walked dozens and hundreds of miles after emancipation to reunite with their families. In 1950, 72 percent of all black men and 81 percent of black women had been married. Read The Black Family in Slavery and Freedom.
