I agree in principle but I think the law would have a different effect. I would think that a larger number of women would willfully abort after the father has "washed his hands" of the situation. I could be wrong, though.
Yeah, but abortion is not birth control. It is a last resort. We need better sex education and free birth control nationwide.

My fear is that that will happen and many women will be affected by multiple abortions.

Sounds like a recipe for disaster especially in the Black community. Ya'll hate the feminist agenda but something like this would be a strong part of it. Many feminist don't think men need to be present to raise child. I have a friend who is on this tip. Men would think they won with this one but the future of the community would lose exponentially.

Get out of jail free pass with your seed is not acceptable. There are just somethings you should do. Be responsible for what you create is one of them.
While I sort of agree, men in the community already run away. This wouldn't I think cause a huge uptick any higher than it already is, but a man who is opting out
now can't be pursued in court.

Its just anecdotal, but for a lot of the single mothers I have known, many did not pursue child support, so in essence, the same thing this law would accomplish is already
playing out for us. Especially if you are dealing with a man of modest income, there are many instances where there isn't much to be gained anyway. We would imagine
that most black folks who have the time and inclination to pursue child support, or the money worth being pursued, aren't the same ones having kids they don't want willing nilly.

I agree with you, but we're also dealing with choice and both parties right to choose. If you believe in tradition then, it makes sense for you to be against this. But what about women using babies as traps or weapons. How do we stop that?

You framing something as a "tough choice" forced on women is dumb as fukk.
The women who will be most affected by this are women from lower income households. It costs $176,550 to raise a child to 18 and that is being generous.

So do you as a young mother, raise the child alone or have an abortion? Abortion laws are getting even more strict. Abortion clinics are closing down, so you have to travel even farther to get to one. In some states, there is a waiting period between the pregnancy test/first visit and the actual abortion of 24-72 hours. Average abortion is $300-400. Add in traveling fees and a place to stay if you aren't able to go back and forth.

Like I stated, many women who do not have access to or funds for abortion, end up hurting themselves trying to self-abort. How is that not a tough choice. Having a child is a huge responsibility.

If this law were to be upheld in the US, they would have to provide better sex education and access to birth control.

I don't necessarily agree with this process. But I do think something needs to be done to give men some type of choice. I mean, people are quick to say well it takes 2 to make a baby, which it does. But once that baby has been created only one person ultimately gets to decide what happens while the other has to deal with it.

I think you're wrong. I don't know why you guys think abortion is like popping an aspirin and it's something done at the drop of a hat. More women than not would rather have the baby and deal with it on their own than go around and get abortions. Happens everyday. I think the numbers of unwanted children (by men) would drop but then you have a whole generation of men who never had a father and also don't think they need to be a father themselves. That's the generation we expect to be good fathers right? I could go on and on by this isn't a good thing but ya'll think it's great so I'll let ya'll have it. You guys really can't see the agenda behind this? Oh well.

reminder to those reading that Sweden has amazing social services, a guaranteed safety net.[a tax rate of 55%]
those children wont be homeless or starving.

here in America these now legally fatherless children wont have any safety net.

this is a good discussion, but it will never happen here.

Not with this scenario.
Not true. The law states that men can opt out as long as the woman is not passed the term where it is legal to get an abortion. So a man can opt out, but the woman still has to find a way to get an abortion or keep the child. Do you really think that the politicians will make it easier for a woman to get an abortion, just because they can now choose to wipe their hands clean of their b*stard love children? If they didnt care before, why would they care now?
