Should this teacher get fired? (starts to give a student that work)

The teacher should get fired because that's just not professional conduct. Period. I really do sympathize with her being pushed to her breaking point. I'm sure she's been through hell, and her students treat her like sh1t, and she's underpaid, and everything else. But she can't get into a physical altercation with a student and expect to keep her job. It's just doesnt work that way.

That said, the student should be expelled immediately as well

I salute the teachers that have to put up with bullshyt ass kids, especially my black brothas and sistas trying to be a role model for these misguided children. If that student tried that shyt on me I would walk up to her ass like

I can't really blame the teacher to be honest, I've seen how some of these kids act and how little the school will do about it. Hell, I remember several students in middle school getting into scraps with teachers.

Personally, if I had a son/daughter and they were acting like that, I'd probably dap the teacher for beating their ass and personally request that the teacher not be fired. I generally lean against corporal punishment, but if a kid tries to fight an adult unprovoked (especially a teacher) then they deserve what they get.

No need for the teacher to beat the shyt out of her (taking off shoe and all), but I don think she should be fired for handing out an ass whooping.

In Nigeria, when my parents went to school the teachers were actually allowed and encouraged to discipline kids who were acting up. With the way these kids get out of pocket now knowing they can get away with it, I don't have a problem with it. Takes a village to raise a child

I'm personally against the teacher's response in the video, but to your suggestion, a teacher would be laughed at and possibly admonished for sending a child to the front office too often, let a lone to the guidance counselor. Teachers in many Title I schools have no real recourse to handle problem students.

Counselors in urban schools are often taken away from their counseling duties and are made to perform more administrative tasks. Additionally, at the high school level, the counselors focus mostly on academic advising and college counseling.

Our schools definitely need to focus on the mental health of our students though.

Our community as a whole desperately needs to focus on our mental health.

first off all she's dumb for arguing with a student. You cant win that chit! Write her up and be done with it. She should have known the deal when she saw at least 2 camera phones come out. I've dealt with some disrespectful teens. I just had a run in this week. I know not to argue with a student, especially when they feeding of the energy of their peers for little giggles and chuckles. She wasnt defending herself, she was retaliating. big difference

Back in the day even the school bus driver could beat your ass. My school bus driver used to pull over and beat nikkas with a bullwhip and it was cool. Just the way it was. In school you were popped with rulers and yardsticks. This was the early 90s by the way. Corporal punishment fell by the wayside somewhere around then, probably due to white NIMBYs and yuppies, and now you have these out of control half faq, ratchet shyttles. Once you hit a teacher unprovoked the teacher should have the right to throw your ass out of the window. The youth of today need to be sent to labor camps and forced to build electronics or transit buses. This is something I've actually thought about since high school. Put these kids in forced labor.

I believe teachers should act in self defense. If you put your hands on a teacher, that is open season for a ass whopping. I was in high school when a kid (he was just bad) put his hands on my English teacher and she flipped his ass. One minute he was on his feet, the next....feet in the air, the next minute back was on the ground, I was impressed. Older white lady put in the business. They interviewed all of us who were in the class room. I told the principle I didn't know what incident he was talking about. Told me the other kids said I was in the room, I said yes, I was in the room doing school work.

Was the only one who didn't say shyt because he put his hands on her first and thought he deserved it. After that day, school went really smooth until graduation.

I don't feel personally that the teacher should be fired. But, the sad part is she eventually will. Educators in my opinion, but more importantly educators of color already have the arduous task trying to uplift and teach their people, they must also serve as the disciplinary figure of that child on a daily basis. That's a problem that I have. Generation after generation is becoming more discourteous to their elders. I grew up in a household where my parents didn't tolerate none of their children disrespecting an elder, whether they were right or wrong. There's a time and place for everything. I love my people to death, especially the young people,but we must honor and love what came before us.

The family of that young girl should have made a public apology to that teacher because that's not the behavior that I would want my child to conduct themselves in any environment especially around an elder. We cannot condone these actions of our young people.

Preach, brother. Some days I can't help but wonder. I love what I do, but its a HUGE responsibility and its straight up mentally tasking sometimes.

There was a lot more that happened prior to the video starting so I'm sure the teacher was on level hot....

But the teacher was just wrong..... the little girl threw the book..... shyt could've gone two ways..

a) the teacher could have fell out on the floor and claimed workers comp
b) the teacher could have attacked the disrespectful little girl back

she took route b) and she will be fired....rightfully so....I am sure the teacher was fed up with all the bullshyt she probably deals with but her decision making in the heat of the moment should not have been to fight.....

Saw this on facebook yesterday. I think the teacher should be fired. End of the day shes the grown up, shes supposed to be mature and walk away. I understand if the girl ran up swinging and you had no other choice but to drop her. But that wasn't the case. As you can see male student was tryna hold the girl AND the teacher back. Teacher was tryna fight just as hard as the lil girl. When in reality teacher shoulda walked to the lounge, calmed down, called security. As a teacher you can't be letting your temper flare like that.

Shes gonna fist fight every little hoodrat who wants to get outta hand? Good. Then she can go be a security guard toss that emotional ass hoe.

Bruh. I hear you. I respect your opinion and I would definitely not have reacted the way this teacher did, but let me tell you... I've seen some shyt. You can talk all that maturity stuff, but let a 17 year old call you everything but a child of God, threaten you and then physically assault you and lets see if you'd "walk to the lounge, calmed down and called security"
Again, I don't condone this teacher's actions AT ALL. I'm just saying, if I wasn't in that classroom, I'm not going to pass judgment.

I feel you on the and then collecting payments, but it isn't that simple. Most districts will give you HELL before you see a check and some won't pay for your injuries at all.

I tell you, having a student strike me is my BIGGEST fear because I can't guarantee that the hood in me won't prevail over the professional Its hard enough not going straight when they mouth off. We're human beings with feelings, we have a limit just like everyone else. People think that we're that should have no problem taking abuse and disrespect.
