I remember a dude had a heart attack and died in the call center. On his day off coming in to pick up his check. They didn’t have a moment of silence or anything. These corporations don’t give two shyts about you. It might be different with small businesses though.

I agree, at my current job I have taken less PTO then when i had my old jobs. problem with unlimited PTO is unless you work at a place where people are actually using it you wont be able to really use it's potential.
Luckily for me next year will be my last year at this job so im going all out with the PTO

at my job, I think I'm capped at 200 hours. but cuz of covid, they let us have no limit on PTO until January 2022, when it goes back to normal. right now, I'm sitting on 285 hours. since I work from home, I don't really take much PTO cuz whenever I travel I can still work during the day.

I'm taking off a week for thanksgiving, and that's pretty much it. But by the time the year is over, I'll still be at like 270 hours. so what they are doing is you can either cash in excess PTO (up to 80 hours) at 90 cents on the dollar, which is a rip off to me.

Or this year only, they are taking anyone's excess PTO and putting in their 401K, which is what I'm gonna do, since there won't be any tax penalties from that.

if I had unlimited PTO, we wouldn't get either of those options.

As of last month, my wife had 240+ hrs pto.

I'm a blue collar worker, so that number insane to me, as I only get 120hrs a year.

my boss been at the company for like 30 years, so she gets around 350 per year.

I only got 3 years in, and I just hit a PTO bump in year 3. I get another PTO bump at year 5, then at year 10.

now, if ur a director level or above, at my company, u get unlimited, which like we discussed is a rip off. cuz my director, she got 20 years in, and she gets unlimted. so if she were to leave or retire, she can't cash in that PTO. When I leave/retire, I'll cash in PTO and have the 401K.

most companies that offer unlimited PTO, the people take less PTO than employers that have a set amount of PTO.

also, when u have unlimited PTO, if you switch jobs, you cannot cash it in when you leave like a conventional job where that PTO is viewed as an asset on the books.
PTO is a liability on the books

the company owes it to the employees

This post is why I regret not going to school. You work to make money, but you also work to get benefits like this.

I love seein' Black ppl with jobs that have good pto. I got a cousin who works in a factory here and the hours he has to work aint normal on the human body or mind.

When you just get 15 day pto, you take a trip, you done used half of it right there smh

I'm encouraged to take my PTO
but my job aint important :mjlol:
I guess it would depends on the position
Never would take a gig where I'm needed to the point it hurts the company when I take off

What do you think no sick leave means? You will have to use your PTO. So that would only mean, increase the PTO. But most places are not doing that.

Ok, then either take the hit to your check or cash in your PTO. That makes zero sense for a company to pay your for sick time off when you never even have to leave your house in the first place, and unless you have a major illness more than likely can still perform your jobs functions.

I have so much time that its crazy. Its November and i have like 170 hrs of vacay and like 100 hrs of sick. Dont even know what to do with it all.

and this is with me taking a week now and 2 weeks in december.

what it will do is possible reduce or force them clowns to lump all time into one bucket and use it as needed.
