There's plenty of talented content creators doing this work for free on Youtube for the sport. Shouldn't be too hard to infuse more detailed analysis if it's an initiative from the top

It spills over into these forums.. so many times I read takes that seem meant for a First Take "B" block that aren't even surface level analysis of a particular game
Half the fun of football to me is seeing what the formation looks like pre-snap, who is lined up on who (is there a linebacker on a slot WR, etc), does the defense look like they are in zone vs man, where's the mismatch on the OL/DL, etc
In the NBA you can also see the small details of when a team is taking advantage of a smaller guard, or a less athletic defender being stuck in the PnR, or specific sets being run to get player X an easy look, etc.
But too many times it literally will be boiled down to "Star player only scored 22 and that's why they lost" on this forum and online

The NBA is a joke. The color commentary is the least of their worries. How about star players not playing the 2nd game of back to backs 5 games into the season. Wack.

I remember one year in the playoffs they played a box and 1 on Steph and the announcers were saying how uncommon it is in the NBA but they never actually told or showed you what the fukk box and 1 meant. That’s when you pause the game and break out the telestrator. That stuck out to me because earlier that year in the NCAA tournament they actually explained exactly what that term meant in regard to the defense.
You watch an entire NFL season and you will grasp most of what is happening. NBA, hell naw unless you catch every game Hubie Brown calls.
