"drip to hard don't stand too close, you gon' mess around and drown off this wave.......SPLASH! Harden nails the 3. Then, the very next Clippers possession, he goes mc Hammer with can't touch this, crossing up and embarrassing his defender like he was young buck on the phone being recorded"

NBA coverage is goofy as fukk, from the halftime "analysis to the sprtscenters and NBA TV"

Even college commentators does a better job covering the Xs and Os
All facts ….only thing I be remembering from the nba commentators is the “baaaaang” constantly yelled when a shot is hit…. shyt is low key embarrassing

He didn't do shyt about it when the Nichols/Taylor situation overshadowed the NBA finals and when Wilbon and SAS flat out shyt on the teams in the finals years ago, so I highly doubt he'll do anything about this particular situation now. He just doesn't have the fire in his soul to force ESPN's hand like Goodell has in multiple instances especially with how the product is talked about on the network.

Or even explain what a zone is.

I remember one year in the playoffs they played a box and 1 on Steph and the announcers were saying how uncommon it is in the NBA but they never actually told or showed you what the fukk box and 1 meant. That’s when you pause the game and break out the telestrator. That stuck out to me because earlier that year in the NCAA tournament they actually explained exactly what that term mean in regard to the defense.

You watch an entire NFL season and you will grasp most of what is happening. NBA, hell naw unless you catch every game Hubie Brown calls.

Yeah like a greg olson or romo will break it down etc. even with all these ex players on the commentary team they don't even do that. Like when I was playing we ran alot of man to man defense to etc., or to call something before it happens

But that's why you put it on ESPN+ or YouTube. You're right, it wouldn't survive on the major ESPN channels. But it would fit right in on ESPN+.
The problem with that though is the fans that you want to educate on the game won't get reached cause they have to go seek it out. I think it'd have to mixed in on the regular coverage the way Inside The NBA does. That's why I love what NFL Live does where they'll still talk about the bullshyt too but will mix in educational information in the middle. The NBA crews mostly just have a bunch of goofs on there looking to give hot takes without any substance.

I disagree with this. I think the NFL is a way more complex game than NBA and that 99% of fans have no clue what's actually happening on the field. I think the NBA is easier to grasp simply because you have five guys on the court for each team and you see what everybody is doing on every play for the most part. It's the nuances of the game the fans don't pick up.

What I'd love to see is that instead of just replaying the dunks or flashy passes, replay Steph coming off a screen and show the footwork that goes in to it. Show how Harden is manipulating the gather rule to get his step back off. Show the body position, footwork, and leverage Jokic is using to back defenders down into the paint without drawing offensive fouls and those nuances get picked up even easier.

Breh, in the NFL they will highlight a pulling guard, slow everything down, and show you how that block opened the hole for a touchdown. They don’t break down anything during an NBA broadcast anymore.
