Simmons is more physically ready to contribute in the NBA than Ingram, you have that backwards.

Ingram is 196lbs, he's going to take some time.
The game is different though with Curry emerging as a top player in the league and obviously the stickman Durant. Skinny guys that can shoot can be effective day one.

Ingram isn't some elite shooter though. He's better than Simmons, but doesn't stack up compared to great shooters yet.

Curry is a point guard, he and Ingram are the same weight by the way. Kevin Durant came into the league at 215lbs and the Thunder still had to play Durant at shooting guard his rookie year.

Ingram is 196lbs, he needs to put on weight and even he knows it, no matter how different you think the league is today you have physical small forwards with some being 240-260lbs and he's going to need some time to develop his body before he'll have an impact. He can shoot, but he won't be able to guard anyone until he adds weight, with Simmons that isn't an issue.

Totally understand that, but I question how effective Simmons will be when he's playing against guys just as athletic with longer wing spans than him on a consistent basis. He's skilled enough to still flourish as a play maker but I have little faith in Simmons in half court situations. Even if Ingram stays on an island and is purely a catch and shoot guy I think there's great value in that

:yeshrug: I dont think Ingram & Simmons are far off in talent. Ingram skillset is much more desirable to a team full of big men that lives in the post.
True but the point is that in 3 years it may not be a team full of bigs because the bigs they have haven't proven to be any good. Remember they let go of the GM that put that roster together. If Simmons is better you have to take him. For instance if Towns was in this draft the Sixers still need to take him because he's better than all the bigs they have. Collecting talent is the most important thing even if it doesn't all fit together perfectly

If the Sixers draft him they're probably going to play him at PF, which is why everyone assumes they'll move one of their bigs. At PF there are very few guys in the league that have the quickness to defend on the perimeter, that's also why his comparisons have been Lamar Odom. He has the size to play PF as long as Nerlens or Joel are the ones playing Center to defend the rim -

9'1" standing reach is PF length.

That's what I want, Simmons and Saric as the playmaking PF's while Embiid and Nerlens patrol the paint as the C's. And any combination of those 4 can play together.

We could run 4-5 pick and rolls/pops all day.

I also think that Ingram can be a pretty disruptive defender. While not a supreme athlete by any means, his wingspan will cause potential problems for players creating space on him.

There's a video where he can touch the top of a backboard. I already think his vertical is higher than Durant's out of college. With an NBA strength program, he's only going to jump higher too. The only question will be if he is disciplined enough to contest shots and not shot fakes.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
This roster is :mindblown:

They need to trade either Okafor or Noel... but Noel's value has tanked. Embid and Noel may cancel each other out, so it would be ideal to trade Noel, but Okafor is really the only one that would get back some value.

Simmons can do more physically, but I don't trust his judgment or desire.

Defensively Ithink Simmons could be a top 3 defender. Offensively I don't like his game that much outside of transition. Ball dominate, no shooting, don't see him being able to play with a it's big ala LeBron. If he showed even a whisper of a salvageable jumper he'd be the no brainer #1.

Ingram on the other hand is very well rounded IMO. Good shooter, passer, length to develop into a good defender, even his weight isn't scary since he shown his frame can add and keep weight (added 23 pounds this year and has wide shoulders). Problem with him in regards to Simmons is he has nothing that he's great at right now like Simmons. But he has tremendous potential
