Do you even know where the words Celtic and Knickerbocker come from :what:

Celtic:
of or relating to the Celts or their languages, which constitute a branch of the Indo-European family and include Irish, Scottish Gaelic, Welsh, Breton, Manx, Cornish, and several extinct pre-Roman languages such as Gaulish.

Knickerbocker:
A descendant of the Dutch settlers of New York.
A native or inhabitant of New York.
2. knickerbockers Full breeches gathered and banded just below the knee; knickers.

I was talking about the Celtic logo. Another example is the Fighting Irish logo and name.

And I was clearly being facetious with the Knickerbocker reference.

You'd rather we side with the white man on this one? :childplease:

And what do black people gain from getting involved? Nothing. We'll still get disrespected and no one from other races will help stick up for us.

Smh @ the fake outrage...

Been a redskins fan my entire life & it seems that present day is the time that we as a society must be PC about everything. I find it hilarious that so many taking heads preferably the ones on the ESPN network are steady pushing for this change. We can argue semantics all day but I feel that the ones who are mainly pushing this agenda to change the name are being hypocrites. I'm also a huge atlanta braves fan, if it's in the late innings & the braves are trailing & are trying to come back, the music comes on & the tomahawk chop starts & I've always found that to be cringe worthy.

There are indian based names in the NCAA, MLB, NHL & NFL. A lot of those names & macsots depict what they believe the indian tradition to be: Courage, Bravery & Strength. And while I can see how the name REDSKIN can be viewed in poor taste I also think it's being overblown but let's not stop there. If we're gonna be PC, lets eliminate the braves tomahawk chop rallying, the FSU pregrame, etc... Because it can all be viewed as a mockery of the indian culture because I know that these colleges & professional sport teams aren't contributing money to indian reservation camps around the county.

It's just sad & pathetic that so many Jews in the media are acting as spokespersons & advocates for the native american community, it all seems very condescending & trivializing. Also its sad that now some of the more prominent writers like peter king & others are going to start to put pressure on RGIII to speak out against the name.

Where was this "outrage" years ago? So different writers in 2013 decided that now is the time to speak out against any injustice like a name change of a team that's been there since before they started their professional journalism careers.

And if dan synder wouldn't have been so dismissive while first discussing the changing of the name then maybe this isn't even a issue now.

They should change it.

People should take every opportunity to get rid of something that has racist connotations . Make sure that no form of racism whether small or large, intentional or not will be tolerated.

Change the name to the Washington Monuments or something.

:dead:

all this typing to try to rationalize you clinging to your squad's racist name. fukk out of here. :heh:

the shyt's horrible. no if ands or buts about it. it's even worse once you consider that DC is the nation's capital.

it'd be like having a German soccer team named the Berlin Kikes. :dead:

people didn't just start calling for the name to be changed. it's been called for for years. get your head out of your ass.

It's funny. This topic is brought up every year and nothing changes. Just give it a rest and stop with the fake outrage. We have more important things to worry about.

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
On a side note, when did black people start :cape: for Native Americans who most likely don't give a damn about our problems?
Many people speak out against injustice of any kind regardless of who suffers from the effects of that injustice. :obama: I would think empathy is a quality human beings have. :ld:

But not when it comes to black people. For the Trayvon Martin situation and many other examples, non-black people looked for any reason to justify the unfair treatment and injustices that we experience. For black people to stick up for others who don't care about us is a waste of time and makes us look desperate for acceptance from other races.

How do we look desperate? If anything, for all the bullshyt we've been thru, it's remarkable that many of us have been able to maintain our humanity. You should be proud of that instead of feeling shame or embarassment. When we stick up for others, whatever that means, that's a good thing. Everybody should do it. The world would be a better place. Generalizations generally suck, though. There were plenty of non-black people who were outraged at what happened to Trayvon Martin and the legal process that followed his death. Just as there were plenty of people of all races who have fought and continue fighting for civil rights, equality, and freedom.

It looks desperate. And "maintaining your humanity" won't get you anything but more disrespect. It's not something to be proud about. It's a sign of weakness. Being the "bigger man" just makes you an easy target to get more disrespect.

Bottom line, if it has nothing to do with black people, it's not worth being concerned about. Everyone SHOULD stick up for others but they don't when it comes to black people. Let's talk about how the world IS instead of how it SHOULD be.

Plenty? I'd like to see that. How about the ones sending him money to total close to $1 million?

I voted "Yes" only because I'm tired of hearing about it. Although there are connotations regarding the word itself.

Washington Warriors or something along the lines of that. I think our logo needs some refreshing too. These are pretty dope
