I was talking about the Celtic logo. Another example is the Fighting Irish logo and name.

And I was clearly being facetious with the Knickerbocker reference.

You'd rather we side with the white man on this one?

Been a redskins fan my entire life & it seems that present day is the time that we as a society must be PC about everything. I find it hilarious that so many taking heads preferably the ones on the ESPN network are steady pushing for this change. We can argue semantics all day but I feel that the ones who are mainly pushing this agenda to change the name are being hypocrites. I'm also a huge atlanta braves fan, if it's in the late innings & the braves are trailing & are trying to come back, the music comes on & the tomahawk chop starts & I've always found that to be cringe worthy.

There are indian based names in the NCAA, MLB, NHL & NFL. A lot of those names & macsots depict what they believe the indian tradition to be: Courage, Bravery & Strength. And while I can see how the name REDSKIN can be viewed in poor taste I also think it's being overblown but let's not stop there. If we're gonna be PC, lets eliminate the braves tomahawk chop rallying, the FSU pregrame, etc... Because it can all be viewed as a mockery of the indian culture because I know that these colleges & professional sport teams aren't contributing money to indian reservation camps around the county.

It's just sad & pathetic that so many Jews in the media are acting as spokespersons & advocates for the native american community, it all seems very condescending & trivializing. Also its sad that now some of the more prominent writers like peter king & others are going to start to put pressure on RGIII to speak out against the name.

Where was this "outrage" years ago? So different writers in 2013 decided that now is the time to speak out against any injustice like a name change of a team that's been there since before they started their professional journalism careers.

And if dan synder wouldn't have been so dismissive while first discussing the changing of the name then maybe this isn't even a issue now.

People should take every opportunity to get rid of something that has racist connotations . Make sure that no form of racism whether small or large, intentional or not will be tolerated.

Change the name to the Washington Monuments or something.

But not when it comes to black people. For the Trayvon Martin situation and many other examples, non-black people looked for any reason to justify the unfair treatment and injustices that we experience. For black people to stick up for others who don't care about us is a waste of time and makes us look desperate for acceptance from other races.

You should be proud of that instead of feeling shame or embarassment. When we stick up for others, whatever that means, that's a good thing. Everybody should do it. The world would be a better place. Just as there were plenty of people of all races who have fought and continue fighting for civil rights, equality, and freedom.
